How long do you think the S650 will stay in production?

How long will the S650 be produced?

If it goes 8 - 10 years, it's fine with me, I intend to keep this until I can't drive anymore. And, hopefully, it should have reasonable retained value.
I'm guessing there'll be a few petrolheads left who want a relatively simple, powerful car that doubles as a middle finger to all the killjoys out there.

The fox platform ran from 79-04. 25 years
S197 from 2005-2014 9 years
S550/650 2015…..??? But if it has a 25 year run like fox did, 2040.
Good point. Although the Fox technically ended in 1993. The S95 was an updated version of the platform. Not unlike going from the S550 to S650.

That's called a refresh. New headlights and taillights does not equal a separate generation. Its still the same platform, and it is no different from the 2018 S550 refresh. Plus I already said the S650 would get at least one refresh.
I see where you're coming from, it gets weird at times. Sometimes we get 4 different body designs and it's one generation, other times, we get one body style for a generation.

So you're right, let me amend my original statement and say we got two different designs with completely unique panels. This is the level of change that in my mind, makes something new, even if it isn't technically a new generation. So I guess what I'm saying is I can see us getting a new design in another 5 years or so, a whole different body. It could be a new generation, it could be still technically considered an s650.

So just to clarify, when I'm talking about the timeline for a new mustang, I'm talking about when we'll see all new body panels all around.

I guess you consider the 2010 refresh to be radically different. I really don't. There certainly weren't new body panels like you claim. Just new headlights and grille, and tail lights. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

Anyway, we all know a mid-cycle refresh is coming. My topic was about an all new platform.

Ford does not own the Rights to GT350 or GT500 any longer. What ever that car is, its not a Shelby.
Ford may not own the rights to GT350 or GT500, but Shelby is apparently still building a 2025 S650 GT350.
They offer a 2025 S650 Super Snake, 2024 F150, 2024 F150 Super Snake, and 2024 Baja Raptor as well.

Shelby American

Shelby has been making their own cars for years. None of them can be purchased or ordered through Ford. Its a moot point anyway as those spy photos are of a Ford test mule and not a Shelby. I suspect it's a DH replacement.

Very possible.
Agree with the point being moot as well.

We’ll definitely get one refresh, I’m guessing for 2027. Probably gonna see some GTD ques here and there like someone said before.

I will say, it feels like these special editions are getting kicked out a little sooner. DH out the gate, Cobra or whatever was hinted at by Farley during the 60th with the green cover last year (year into the s650).

Maybe that’s what people see as it being a short run. I have that feeling too, but then again the previous gen GT350 came out of nowhere early on and stuck around longer than I thought, followed by a gauntlet of other SEs.

Yeah the S550 had a lot of early special editions too though. The 50th anniversary, California Special, GT350, and Bullitt were all released in the first 5 years.

The DH is not a special edition. It was/is considered a standard line model like Ecoboost or GT. The California Special and the new FX are cosmetic packages. So the first special edition will be the new Boss/Cobra or whatever that are going to call it.

Not counting the packages, the Bullitt came out near the end of the 350’s run of 5 years, not during, followed by the GT500 and Mach 1.

Now with the S650 we’re getting the SEs within the first 5 years it looks like, but anything is possible. They could easily extend the generation out.

So far we know a Cobra like Mustang and the RTR are coming. Then there’s the rumored Raptor and possibly a Boss (that’s being thrown around with the Cobra name though)

Not sure I agree with you there. The Dark Horse replaced the Mach 1 which was a special edition. Im not sure if the DH is meant to be a permanent model or not.

The RTR is already here. But like the current Shelby cars, it's not Ford special edition. The Cobra is a rumor at this point. And if they make one, I can't see them continuing with that and the DH at the same time.

Bottom line is Ford likes special editions and packages. They generate FOMO and sell cars. But I don't think they are any indication of how long the platform will be used.

If you go back and read the press releases for the DH this is what Ford said. Now that’s not to say there cannot be special versions of the DH but the base and premium models stay on the order sheet.

Bro I’m talking about that factory RTR ecoboost car that’s coming out. šŸ˜‚
