The paddles are cool for sure! As an alternative, without using the paddles, how far down you press the accelerator determines what gear it drops down to. I can basically pick what gear to drop down to with the pedal alone.
That is true of almost all automatics when you accelerate. I will check, as well, but do you know without using the paddles if the gear it drops to is displayed on the dash? Personally, I like the feel of downshifting, and my hands are already on the paddles since I use them extensively. Glenn

As far as I noticed gear selection only occurs using paddles.

Many times I have one hand on the wheel, so not using paddles is more convenient, also less lag than just hitting the accelerator.

For all those that have A10s, if you haven't added gear indication displayed continuously in the Tach display using FORSCAN, you r missing out !
Yea, this is something I want so bad!

My trans is so much better since the first service, no idea what they did apart from checking oil level (it was fine), but it is much more responsive to throttle position.

I'm happy messing around with my phone and laptop but i'm not going to try using Forscan! No matter how bad I want the gear to display! Glenn

This is one of the easiest changes in FORSCAN, see below.

Maybe for you, but I don't want to end up with a paperweight! Why Ford, in their infinite wisdom, would not turn that on as the default is beyond me. If there were no paddles, I could understand it. Glenn

1. Gear shifting is very quick
2. Transmission whines at sport and track modes. Especially when left at high rpms
3. Gear changes become more aggressive / abrupt either at higher temperatures and/ or more aggressive driving style.
4. Transmission oil can easily overheat in canyon carving
5. Drive it like you stole it

I agree. In Manual mode, it comes up very small near trans mode on bottom display. OBTW the scary part of FORSCAN is getting started with cable purchase and FORSCAN App. The Trans Indicator is one of the easiest to change, just change DISABLED to ENABLE. Most other changes require changes to raw, multi characterter settings.

Or make it an option right in the settings, like it's a setting, it would easily be in options. I hate when stuff like that is there, but they give you no access to it in the normal settings.

Like seriously, i can turn rain sensing on and off. Gear indicator is far more important. lol

I just did a trip last week doing the Texas Twisted Sisters, Trans fluid was holding at like 210-214 the whole time. oil temp around 230.

The west and south legs is a lot of heavy 1-4 and much of it 1-3 gears. Lots of 2-3 shifts.

It's a bucket list for sure, but for anyone brave and smart enough to carve them up safely. There are some parts if you went off, you are D.E.A.D. but some of the most beautiful views of the Texas hill country. We are planning another trip to do them in reverse of what we did in the spring.

Yes! I've seen some screens in FORScan and that's why I am not sure I want to mess with it. However, you make it seem like this one is easy enough and I really want the gear displayed. I may have to venture into the unknown! I do have the screen print! Thanks again! Glenn

You got that right! Ford could probably do that with an OTA update! Geez Ford get with it! Glenn
