Hello gentleman,

I have rather odd question but I have recently become curious about the possibilities. I have a 24 s650 10 speed, and I have been curious about doing a transmission swap over to a tremec 6 speed.

I dont even know if there are conversion kits out there to even consider taking on a task like this. Based on my research I have been unable to find a kit out there for the s650. Even if this was something that is possible, I dont even know if there is software to make the care think it was a manual from the factory. To make all the displays behave as if it was a true manual from production.

Just a curiosity.

I researched this extensively with my 21 Mach 1 as I disliked the 10-speed and regretted the decision. The amount of money in labor and parts is one thing but the other big thing is you will greatly depreciate your cars value as it’s VIN is an automatic.
So I went into the dealership and got a sick deal on a 24 Dark Horse Tremec and couldn’t be happier!

Unfortunately they have gone up in price so much. My premium , non-hp DH stickered for $67k and I got it for $63k
Same car now is over $70k sticker.
Find a dealer that will get you close to invoice.
Also, the HP version is a waste if you don’t track it. The tires will only last you 5000 miles so factor that in as well with the extra cost of the HP package. Personally I liked using the money to do my own mods on the non-hp

Yea I dont want the track pack dark horse but the one they have on the lot is a step below that and they are asking 67 for it. It just feels like thats really high, but the DH will hold its value so much better than the regular GT

No doubt it's an over priced car. What I paid was the max I thought the DH was worth.
If you do it, make sure to get the premium package and don't get the recaros.
You have a link to the car?

These cars are way too technical and computer driven. I can’t imagine all the error codes and unthought of problems you would encounter by changing transmissions. I just changed wheels & tires & now I done have cruise control or pre-collision assist. Major hassle! Get the DH manual & enjoy. Life is short. Don’t miss out.

All cars are over-priced today. Average price of any kind of new car is $50K today with an average payment of right at $750 per month. That payment is inconceivable to me. I just make one big payment which is also inconceiveable. IF I remember correctly, my first Firebird 400 was around $4K. I didn't pay that much. Dealers would dicker back then. The world was a lot tamer back then except for the Cold War which was the real deal.

Concerning the transmission swap, I would recommend a car swap. Might not be that much difference in $$ in the end. I have the 10 speed which I like and is the first auto I've ever had in a muscle car. Never thought that would happen but it's fast which is one of the reasons I own a Mustang. Fourth GT I've owned. I personally don't like six speeds. Five speeds, or four speeds, yes. Six speeds a big no. Found this out on my Z06. Shifting all the time and sixth gear is nearly useless. Just another opinion.

Trade it in for a new DH manual car.

Or... You could enjoy being faster with your 10R80. 0.4 faster 0-60 at 3.7 seconds and 12.0 in the quarter, a half second quicker. For me it's all about speed and quickness.
