The 10R80 is a fabulous transmission. I will never regret not getting the manual.
On another note, my car "may" never see a track, but at 55, I am not against it. My car is a beast. This is not my midlife crisis situation, lol, but my 37 year old wife is!
You are a winner. For the people who understand what I'm saying here.

The 10L90 can take more power, which makes it beefier.

The R,
whines, has shift issues, internal gear breaking, cannot take boost/power very well.

I too have the R and love it, but it is the inferior of the 2.

I personally wish Ford would have just went with the ZF. It is better than both of them.

I have you beat.
We purchased our 2024 GT Premium on May 17, 2024.
I was 76 & my Wife was 74..
The Mustang makes you feel Younger, for sure.

Hmmm, is that right?? Been in a few last Gen Camaro’s ((1LT & ZL1) and they were not too impressive in shifts and performance. The cars were powerful (torque related) upon shifts. Maybe it was just a random thing I guess. Called the Hydra-Matic, it is a good transmission with claims of shifting faster than the Porsche PDK transmission!! That’s a good claim and both are good transmissions, but IMO the 10R80 is a better performing system. YOMV.
I had a new 2018 GT PP1 A10 with MagneRide for 2.5 years, and have owned my ‘21 ZL1 with A10 (10L90) since new. There’s no comparison with the transmissions. There’s no doubt the GM version is better programmed and better behaving. By far.

I believe the A10 had reprogramming in MY24. Mine is quick and I can't imagine how it could be improved. Some have said they have had it skip shifts but I haven't had this problem. I use sport mode 98% of the time.

Well happy for you with that but I wasn’t that impressed and it’s not like night and day to me. But to each their own. Plus I’m not a Chevy guy but no hate intended.

The best move I ever made was to trade in my 2020 Mustang GT premium with the A-10 for a 2024 Mustang GT premium with the A-10. My 2020 was a great car in every respect except for the transmission which was a woefully substandard undeveloped piece of goods. The 2024 Mustang is a NIGHT AND DAY difference in the transmission between the 2020. Somebody put some time in and really developed that transmission because it is a work of art. It took a wonderful car in every other way and made it into a fabulous car with all the many improvements in the S650 model.

I note that the 10 speed on the '25 GT is a bit slow and soft on the shifts. Anyone make an easy to change part to improve this?
