How long do you think the S650 will stay in production?

The S197 lasted 10 years and the S550 made it 9 years. Both models were produced longer than Ford originally intended. The S550 started development way back in 2009 but didn't make it out until 2015. It was also originally supposed to be replaced by the 7th gen back in '22, But the S650 was also delayed.

Now that the S650 has been out 2 years, and is basically an S550 version 2 platform, how long do you think it will last?

Is Ford thinking long term with this platform or, is this just a bridge to an all new chassis they have planned in just a few years? Considering current car sales, and the lack of competition, I predict we will see the S650 around for a good while (9-10 years), and there will be at least 1 if not 2 refreshes during that time.

EDIT: The last option in the poll vote was supposed to be 9-10 years.

I’m hopeful for a refresh for ‘27 and hoping they have a new lighter platform in another 5-7 years or so. But I’m not holding my breath hahaha

So by their reasoning 7 model years. And with tuning opened up i suspect sales will start to go up.

Ford has painted itself into a corner with the Mustang and in doing so has put the entire ponycar Mustang in jeopardy. Ford focused on branding and tried to slip by a ponycar with minimal effort. They got bit.

A refresh will not work with the S650. It's a last swing at a complete re-design or the ponycar Mustang goes to pasture for good...

The Mustang is an iconic American car. But so were the Camaro and Charger…

I love driving my S650, but I have to admit it increasingly feels like a dinosaur in this age of EV’s. You have to wonder how many more years Ford can afford to produce such a beast.

Eventually, gasoline powered cars will probably become like horses: formerly used for transportation, but now used mainly for sport.

I’m just glad I’m around to enjoy driving both my ICE Mustang and my Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition!

A lot of the signs point to s650 being around for a shorter period of time than s550. Everything from it being a pretty mild generation in terms of changes, to the fact that they really seem to almost be in a rush to get new variants out the door. Like the s650 has only been out for what? Like 2 years give or take?

In those two years we got the base Ecoboost, the Ecoboost performance pack, the gt, the gt performance pack, the dark horse which is the mach-1/gt 350 replacement, the ultimate mustang with the GTD, the 60th anniversary, and the California edition.

All that's left really is the gt 500 which is coming next year most likely, the mustang raptor, and some mustang hybrids most likely. I don't see what they would have put out so many variants so soon if the plan was to make s650 a slow burn generation with a super long life span.

Prior to s650, and overlooking the fox body, most of the body styles seemed to run for about 5 years. The new edge to the 05, which ran until 2010. Then the new design ran from 2010 to 2015. 5 years is a little ambitious, so let's say 7, meaning we're about 5 years from a next gen mustang.
