And don’t forget the Mazdaspeed 3 & 6. Also my favorites the RX-7 & 8.
Yes there were a few great RX7s over the years. I wish they still made one.

True, but I think the design looks quite good. Better than the mid 90s mustang generation that preceded the new edge for sure... oh some people on this site are going to shred me for that statement.

I still feel like they only didn't use the KL-ZE because V8 guys would hate their 5.0 and 4.6 only making like 15hp more than a 2.5L v6 in a car that was much lighter than a Mustang and wasn't an SVT Product. Their own V6 was barely making 200HP at the time and was 50% bigger.

Also kinda feel like that's why they killed the SVT ZX2 project and sent the turbo'd engine to EU for the FOCUS RS. In turn giving the Turner win to the SRT-4 and Cobalt SS when they came out a few years later. Hard to sell a 200HP v6 Musang when the same money would get a 212 HP car that weighed less, and handled better. Ford could have been first to maket with a 212HP forced induction compact in 1999, and that same year ROUSH showed a pair of 230HP supercharged ZX2's.

Instead we just a SVT Focus that was to heavy, geared way to long, and literally ran same track times as a 1999 ZXs S/R that was mostly just the Ford Racing catalog included on it and had 25hp less.

Ford had a lot of potential for great cars in the late 90's early 00's but then did nothing with it, or gimped them just to not make the Mustang line look to bad. Could you imagine if the SVT Contour got the 3.0DOHC instead of the 2.5?

If the two look much different then I don't get it because they look very similar to me. The body lines are almost identical.
The cars are virtually the same. The exterior I can deal with, the interior.......good lawd!!!

The new car isn't really a new generation. Ford is lying through it's teeth on that one.

I think this would need to be a Mach 1 to be a fair(er) comparison. The Ecoboost sits much higher and without the extra front splitter or wider openings like the M1 Handling Pack, it doesn't stand a chance. The DH is more of a M1 replacement after all. I would also like to see them in the same colors if that were possible. Would make for a better comparison.

Yup. An S550 with all the character lines ironed flat. Makes me want to run out to the garage and polish my '21.
More than one way to shape the sides of a car!

Based off of what people who've seen the s650 in person have said, the side surfacing of the s650 is actually more muscular.

Strong surfacing is the name of the game right now. But unlike basic character lines, it doesn't translate well into 2D formats. Hence why so many modern designs are disliked when all people have to go on are photos. But once they see it in person, they love it.

Was basically the same thing as the s550, which looks soft and awkward on many photos, but outstanding in person. The s650 continues this trend.
