those poor relays click clacking for their life! i will agree that not removing the charger and recording instead is stupid, but i guess this kind of thing can happen with a very, very low or internally shorted battery. if that is the case, then the biggest risk is really how the modules react to constantly having then losing power

Why the heck you would charge your battery with the car cables on the battery? You are supposed to take the car cables off the battery before you clip the charger wire on the battery! Hope you didn’t fry the car?

Some people genuinely shouldn’t work on their own cars. This isn’t an MGB, lmao

The OP of the video, looking at his reddit account...he tends to inflict damage first, then seek help on reddit.

- The battery charger. I honestly thought that was a legacy rod-type welding machine. But I expanded the video and did some frame-by-frame viewing. That charger was in use when Moses wore short pants. The screen says 40 amps. It's probably outputting much, much more of straight, unconditioned, current

- He's bypassed BMS. In the video, he's connected directly to the posts. The BMS monitor is on the other side of the charging connection. As others have pointed out, the safest option would be to momentarily disconnect the cables from both posts, then attach; worst case, he damages the battery. An alternative would be to connect the negative (-) charging cable to a chassis ground, then put the charger on the lowest possible setting

- Damage? There's no telling. Fortunately for him, most cars come with fusible links that burn up to protect circuitry. The clattering relays, those could be replaced. He didn't do himself any favors leaving it connected like that. But, that's his t-shooting MO. It's probably one of those things where, after initial repairs and checks, damaged bits could be discovered for some time to come, as features are tried, checked and found to be faulty
