try being a lube tech somewhere and having to drop those shields off of 16 cars a day, and on some cars (TOYOTA !!!) the plastic push clips are almost "single use" items.

In the bad old days when I was wrenching full time, this was simple stuff.

Now it is R&R shields and the reset procedures for maintenance or oil life monitors are a royal PITA especially if you work in a general repair shop like I do, I see different makes and models all day long and end up either looking for the reset procedure on YouTube or plugging my scanner into do it, which is sometimes faster than trying to get thru all the menus to find the right screen

My Focus ST (8yrs) and Focus RS (3yrs) both had undertrays (8ish screws)...........................AND some sort of rubber mini splitter(4 or 5 screws) mounted at the leading edge of the undertrays.

As an option; we wouldn't have to leave the UT off; we could just cut access holes in it for the drain plug and filter.

I did mine last weekend and in the time it took me to complete this I could have changed the oil and filter on my Mach 1 several times. What engineer thought it would be a good idea to cover the oil filter without a flap for removal.

Doing mine in the next day or so. I have 1600 on Blue-Bell. Gonna do the DIYVan wheel well mod as well. Quaker State UP 5W-30 oil and a Motorcraft FL-500S filter. How is everyone getting the rocks and debris out of the rocker panels? Shop Vac?

Yea, its a royal PITA, but it's all to improve aero, which I believe Ford has done a pretty good job with it. The entire underside is not covered like a full fledged race car, but quite a bit of it is. And, for $78.00, I'll let my dealer do the oil/filter change.

I have watched several YouTube videos on folks changing the S650 oil in their garage and I marvel at the antics. Multiple jacks, to jack it up 3 inches, multiple containers for the old oil etc. and each recommending a different oil. Good grief.

Have these folks ever thought of building two ramps to drive the car up onto?
How about a marine oil vacuum extractor to suck the oil out from above.
Then you’re only left with that bloody pan to access the filter. First change put a door in it.
I do my own changes for $40..
Now an easier oil change. Maybe I should do a video? Nah...

In order to get the rocks out of the rocker panel, you need to remove the plastic clips in the wheel liner and pull the liner away from the wheel well slightly. You don’t have to remove the entire thing. Once you can stick your hand inside the rocker panel (or at least get your hand behind the liner) then you can start removing the rocks. I used a plastic L-shaped tool to just pull the rocks forward and out; they ended up just falling on the ground. Also be aware of the small holes between the rocker panel and the body, which rocks can fall down into. Using a small hose vacuum attachment can help prevent any rocks falling down, as you’re removing them, but if they do fall down, you may need to remove the plastic trim under the doors to get the rocks out.

Lastly, do this before you install the DIY van kit. The kit adds support and rigidity to the wheel liner, which means removing part of the liner for rock removal becomes more difficult. I removed the rocks, put my liner back in, and installed the DIYVan kit.

Problem solved.
