How are you guys launching your Automatics? Foot on the brake, hold at 1,500-2k rpm until the green light, then release and WOT (to the extent traction will allow)? Any long term transmission damage from doing it like this?

100% agree.
Launch control and Rev match are functions designed for a manual transmission.

For the most part, launch control is simply allowing you to hold the accelerator to the floor with the clutch pushed in while the car is at a complete stop, so that when the clutch is released you launch under full power. According to the manual, it is supposed to help maximize traction as well; but to what extent is hard to say. I doubt this function could ever work properly in a vehicle with an automatic transmission.

Rev matching is simply removing the requirement for the driver to possess the skill of being able to heel/toe shift a manual transmission. All it does is 'blip' the throttle for you on downshifts so that the engine RPM matches the RPM's required for the gear you are downshifting into. Again, I doubt this would ever work correctly with an automatic transmission and if it did, what the benefit be.

Line lock would be the only feature here that would really be worth trying to get working on an auto.
Line Lock is already available on the auto. No need to enable it in Forscan.

Well, for what it’s worth, several if not dozens of these cars have cut 1.4 60 foot time stock trans, stock converter.

I don’t think launch control would do anything but help you spin and go slower, a stickshift car yes, but auto, no.
Maybe not in a Mustang, but launch is the key to a lot of these sub 3 secs to 100kmh times.
Launch is also a must with DCT's.

DCT is a completely different animal, doesn’t have a fluid converter

and my best launches have been off idle. I just flash the converter from idle and cut 1.5 60s super easy.

I doubt that video is authentic, but hey it would be nice if we could turn it on. Also looks like there is a rev matching tab too. Maybe someone that has it can post their spreadsheet. If anyone tries this post your results. 👌🍻
You want rev match on an automatic?

Interesting - Assume this is set through the "Settings" menu?

Assuming that it is the same as the Dark Horse, it can be found in the Track Apps and iirc you need to be in the Track drive mode.

Yes, I'm aware of that. I was referring to the "launch is for manuals only" comment.
What do you mean by "flash the converter"?

You just floor it from idle, as opposed to trying to foot brake it up to 1500-2000rpm, every time I tried to leave with anymore rpm than idle the car went slower or blew my launch.

Same here its spin so much more when you lunch from anything above 1500rpm than flooring it from idle

Yes, stock trans and converter, that’s what I was talking about, I know quite a few cars (that make more power than me) that cut 1.4s easily/repeatably also stock converter/trans.

I've never been a fan of loading the converter. I have too much mechanical sympathy.
