I'm torn, I really want amber drl's but don't trust myself enough to do it with the fdrs and forscan. $900 can be spent on something I can actually see or feel when I'm driving, haha.

It just looks so cool, and to be the only one in my neck of the woods, tough decision to make šŸ˜‚
Also SimpBuilt is running a really good deal:
https://www.simpbuilt.com/products/2024-ford-mustang-rgb-headlights-v2?variant=49735007306014

With code: MEM15
Which brings the price to $773.50

Have you ordered a set? Which brand did you go with it you did?
I went with StangLights, they are the china version, I paid $920 as StangLights was the second seller that had RGB headlights that were fully plug n play. Simpbuilt I didn’t see until about 20 days later. Either seller you’re going to be waiting probably 2 months. If SimpBuilt really builds their own headlights then I’d go with them to support a small business. Plus they got a good discount running

I'm assuming you're still waiting for yours?

Question. Whats stopping manufacturers just making new headlights with amber DRL/fixtures.

for context, my mechanical/electrical car knowledge makes a hard cut off past 1995 and I dont know anything post carburetors and port fuel injection, so explain to me like im 5. Can’t they just make the glass/plastic lens amber? Can’t LED’s also just… like… be amber?

sorry for the ignorance on the subject, lmao
its 100% possible for something like that to be done, and you can get some headlights with RGB DRLs. but if you want to use factory parts, this is the way. i personally did it because i dont like just how many different RGB controllers there are. everyone has their own app, and its impossible to link them together properly. if i ever do RGB, it has to be able to be controlled by one of my choice of controller.

Found these, $899.10 with their discount code.

$899 or possibly bricking components on your car if you're not careful, haha
if you do brick your modules, replacing them is about the same cost, maybe less

If there’s any caveat… the instructions listed here are very well laid out so just as long as you follow the instructions and be patient you should be ok. I have a job 1 2024 so I’ll have to do the HCM flash as well. This is my first rodeo with FDRS but not with ForScan so, for me, I’m going to make sure I have a trickle charger on the battery. I work in IT so maybe my ā€œfull send/no guts no gloryā€ level is a little different lol.

My mongoose should be here today so I plan on doing it either this afternoon or tomorrow. If you want I can post my experience…
Of course, its always good to post your experience

It looks like I'm stalled out currently. I was able to get FDRS set up (make sure you set your account up through motorcraft as the ford.com account or it will give you errors when trying to log in via FDRS) and I thought I had a valid GTD vin but the one is giving me a "no build date" error and when I try to go a few numbers down I get a 404 VIN not found error so I'm out for now.

Looks like I might have lost 50 bucks on a 2 day license. Bummer!
