not taking sides but here's another thought. while you flood crank the engine to maybe pre-oil the bearings, does the valve train (tensioners, cam phasers, lash adjuster type parts) have the pressure it needs to keep everything in order?

This is a very good point. How much pressure and distribution are you getting from an oil pump turning at 250rpm? It could be much worse for the valve train than a normal start with prolonged turning over at low pressure.

'It's obvious, it's common sense', but is it actually true?

Is a starter an electric hand crank? How much damage occurs when it doesn’t start on first crank?

So are we supposed to do this every time we start the car?

Or just after a certain number of days? And what is that number?

And do we still have to do it if we use Ceratec or Amsoil?

Look how long it takes to prime this engine using a drill

Careful observers will notice the engine is not turning over, they are just turning the oil pump

What does any of that have to do with this topic ?

You keep sharing the process to "Prime" a fresh build. What the F does that have to do with this topic ? It is two different situations. If you want to use a preoiler canister after it sits , go nuts. That would be even better.

In fact many racers with high performance engines Definitely preoil with a canister. They will preheat the oil and coolant also.

We get it. You think its stupid. Noted.

Heres something I found. I suppose the priming is the ultimate way.

I brought this up to learn , so Im open to all advice.

That is obviously an AI driven search response - where does that link lead too?

Trying a similar search myself generates a similar response with links leading to Youtube and Reddit discussions that then link to what to do if your car oil filter cannot be pre-filled after an oil change, which is not the case with the Coyote.

This is one of the problems with AI if you don't check the links and sub links. Not just that the AI then scrapes from a forum like this where it suddenly seems that you must do this after an oil change on a Coyote now, which then keeps feeding back to reinforce what was never true in the first place!

I don't know whether the process is good or harmful but I wouldn't make too many assumptions based on the information so far.

Lets call it like it is. You aren't following along because you don't grasp the concept of the argument. It sounds like you got a idea in your head from a Google AI response and decided to run with it. And now that you're being challenged, you are getting defensive and can't answer direct questions. This is how misinformation gets spread on the internet.

Got it 👍 Thanks for the input ! Your explanation makes the most sense.

Since I work for a company that builds alternators and starters, if you could all please add unnecessary wear to your starter every morning it would be greatly appreciated.....I have one daughter headed to college and could use a little extra income......

Glad part of your job description is reading, not just being argumentative.

This is about the first start after the car has sat for a month+ Not every goddamn morning.

Curious, is it part of the ‘lot boy’s’ job? I mean dealer lot, does the car jockey spend the day starting the inventory in sequence?

This says way more about you , than anything regarding the topic at hand.

Ya , the dealership cares EXACTLY the same about a vehicle they want to service and sell , as the guy buying it. 🙄

Never once did I say it was "mandatory"

Rough crowd in here.
