"Normal wear and tear does not typically cause bearings to go bad before piston rings, cylinder bores, etc." is pretty far from an absolute
I was partly referring to your next post, partly just lightening the mood in the room.

Perhaps it's because i don't wait that long, I do changes at 3000, or shorter if ive been running it hard, maybe 4000 if i were to do a GT style road trip or something. So I have never noticed the tick going away.

All i know is, I didn't have it before the first oil change, and now it does. lol. and it's so annoying and i wish Ford would just come out and say what it is, they obviously know since they are adding something for it not to tick until the first oil change. I so wish I did an oil analysis on the factory oil, because we'd be able to figure it out but catching someone before they do their first oil change is stupid hard.

And by you saying "as it gets used, the tick goes away", that's literally saying as the oil gains fuel dilution, carbon particles and loses viscosity from heat (cylinder, ring heat) the tick goes away?
Mine has always had the tick from new.

Oh really? Like brand new? How many miles did ya have on it new?
First time I've heard a new one had it. that's crazy.
6 miles on it when I got it. Now done 8k miles and having the first service next week.

I'm not worried about it, my S550 did it and after 50k miles was still perfectly fine.

Just crazy guess im old fashioned lol. Man just insane to me, guys buying cars, don't change the oil until 8k miles on it.

My routine, which i learned from a ford mechanic in the 90s, which he is still doing it the same today with his personal cars, and the oil geek has confirmed this with oil analysis testing with this schedule

New car, 500 miles, no WOT, but spirited acceleration ok to get rings to seat then oil change only at 500 to 600miles, removes assembly lubes, break-in lubes, metals.

at 1500 miles, oil change with new oil filter this time, most of the assembly lubes and stuff is gone with this one. Considered fully broken in, and WOT is ok now.

3000 mile oil change,

Then after that, 2000-4000 mile oil changes, depending on how hard you're driving it. Lot of track time, drag, spirited driving, idling, there will be fuel dilution, so 2000-2500 mile oil changes (fuel dilution is proven with oil testing)

Normal driving, Road tripping, GT stuff, 3000-4000 max.

That's just my normal for any kind of high output type of engine. Even the manual talks about a 1000 mile break-in. OG guys, do the routine i just laid out, but might skip the 1500 mile oil change.

Just crazy how these dealerships are doing things now

It's a daily, I'm not going to change the oil every 3 months! I've got much better things to spend my money on!

50k in the S550 and was sweet as a nut with changes every 8k or so. Never burnt any oil between changes.

I mean these things do hold 10q of oil. I'm betting 8k is ok, for sure 5k. But my ocd just won't let me do it. LOL it's just me bro, im not speaking bad on how you do it.

It's just a car. The intervals are lower than most cars anyway at 10k / 12 months so it never crosses my mind.

Ended up waking my car up from winter storage today given the temps are starting to rise because I just couldn't take it anymore I needed to drive it. It started up like if it had started the day before. Now I'm ngl I had been overthinking how it would start given I never stored a car before and I thought the timeframe might change things but nope everything was fine. I didn't really notice flat spotting. Maybe it was minor but its gone now. Luckily no rodents got in the garage so ratatouille couldn't make my car his home
