That’s brutal
Because if some engine parts break, the dealer can say that you might used the wrong oil, or you did the service way too late and stuff like that.

When the dealer does the service, they document every change so they are responsible.

My first oil change is coming up and I wouldn’t mind having the dealer do it. However, I’m concerned they might be sloppy and allow oil to go all over the place followed by not cleaning the area. Because of this I may just end up doing it myself.
If you are able to watch your car while it's in the service bay, do so. Naturally they cannot allow you inside the bays, unless escorted, but you can watch from outside the bay. Knowing the tech is being observed, they tend to be more careful in their work. I always watch my vehicles when being serviced at dealer, tire shop, etc.

Hey everyone, I’m at 1300 miles and been waiting for my race ramps to be sent out to me. Just needed some advice. I haven’t done an oil change in a very long time, and I’ve always done it with my dad. I was going to do my own oil changes using the motor craft filter, and Amsoil 5w30 synthetic. I’ve been getting told that I should let the dealer do it, but the dealers around here dont have the greatest reviews for their service. I’m just wondering if it’s a bad idea for me to do it myself as it’s been a long time. Will me doing my own oil change using the oil I listed mess up the warranty? I will log the changes into FordPass and carfax, and keep all my reciepts. Just wanted your guys opinion if I’m doing something dumb before I go through with it lol. Just not a fan of trusting people with my car as Ive had bad experiences with my Camaros at the dealer. Thank you!
If you have basic tools and a jack just do it yourself. Don't waste your money on Amsoil.

I did mine at 1 month, 2000kms.
It's easy enough, though Ford use a gazillion screws on the underpanels.
It worth buying a filter tool, and make sure your drain bin holds a bit more than 10 litres.
Mine was 10 litres, it was a close run thing.

We have better consumer protection laws here, or something. Car culture is totally different in the USA.

That's why I said USA is no problem to change your own oil. But I don't know if you have a better consumer law. It depends on how you look at it.

The only thing I know is that you guys can sue each other over some stupid slippery sign and get 10 million dollar because you hurt your toe by falling on the ground. You will not even get a Dollar if that happened here lol.

@dtillsstang .... started changing oil with my grand father when I was 10. He built all manner of custom car and marine racing engines and had a dyno. Last report I had was that Conoco made the Motorcraft oil and well known VI packages for the Motorcraft oil were made by S-Oil to Ford's specifications and that Wix was supplying oil filters. That's what I use and I'm ocd about maintenance. Like you I plan too plan to keep my 2024 GT as long as I am around.

PS. Keep receipts for the oil and filter.
Buy genuine filters while under warranty.
Make sure the oil meets Ford specs

Make sure to get the SN Plus oil, it’s the newer spec (the older spec is SN). Best price I found for the newer Full Synthetic Motorcraft is at Rock Auto. Buy 12 and they send a full case. Motorcraft full synth only comes by the quart or drum (no 5 quart option like the semi synth). Their prices on Motorcraft filters are good too, I always have an extra around and doesn’t add much to their shipping cost.

Make sure your drip pan can hold 10 quarts. Also can help taking the filter off inside a plastic bag so it catches the drips and stream as you loosen the filter.

The big pain on the S650 is the belly pan. Lots of screws and two types of push pins. Helps to have an upholstery tool. One of the two types of push pins comes out in pieces, so I have spares. Here’s the part/part number. You can see the broken vs. new ones. Comes in a four pack, you’ll need two.

Oh and be prepared for the Typewriter/BBQ Igniter Tick sound afterward. Goes away after a few thousand miles only to return after the next oil change. But don’t worry if you get it, it’s “normal”. 🙄
