  1. Who has removed their engine covers

Yep, took some twisting and turning but it did come out in one piece with no damage except for a little bit of scuffing on the cover. My son’s S550 gen 3 cover, which is huge, had to be cut out.
  2. S550 aftermarket mufflers fit on a S650 ?

These are S550 Roush. I got them for almost half off, BNIB. They fit but if IIRC they’re a little shorter than the newer ones that also fit the S650. Not sure about Borla though, but I’d guess it’s the same.
  3. Who has removed their engine covers

I took the cover off after installing the brace. It’s doable, need to lift up the legs that snap into the intake and rotate it around and it’ll come out. I got sick of getting paper cuts from the sharp edges when doing maintenance.
  4. 2026 DARK HORSE 1ST OIL CHANGE QUESTION

If you want to replace the “fir tree type” (perfect name btw) here’s the part number on the 4 pack. For me, they haven’t come out intact ever over the last 2 plus years.
  5. Another recall? 26E04 - Powertrain Control Module Software Update

But this recall doesn’t appear to be OTA. So confused on this one. I wonder if that customer can look at the app (or screen) and see what update that was.
  6. Another recall? 26E04 - Powertrain Control Module Software Update

Hmm, mine is a software update. Wonder why they can’t do it over the air. For now, not bringing it in. Low trust in dealership services. I still have the water intrusion BCM module that they’ll end up doing as well, which I don’t want done.
  7. Tuning base GT?!?

I was replying to the OP from Colorado. I was asking if they don’t have 93 because at elevation it’s not needed. At least here in Phoenix I can make it from a 91/100 mix at the pump. E85 isn’t limited to at the pump. It can be had from several vendors by the can or drum for around $20 a gallon...
  8. Tuning base GT?!?

Do you know if you don’t have 93 because of your gas sources or because of elevation? IIRC, lower octane at elevation because of less air/O2. Also, do you have true e85? Here in the Phoenix area we don’t have 93 because of gas sources “CAN” (California, Arizona, Nevada) gas (at least near me)...
  9. Anyone know what this part is/does?

I’m trying to figure out why the black top cap was popped up and spinning on my son’s S550. No “P” codes, no performance problems, nothing amiss. So it’s more of a detailed question about the part itself, which is relatively cheap and easy to replace now that I/we know what it is.
  10. Anyone know what this part is/does?

Found it thanks to Levittown Ford online parts catalog. Back to why I want to know what it is/does, my son’s black cap was popped up. The black cap does seem to spin like a volume control knob. https://parts.levittownfordparts.com/oem-parts/ford-engine-intake-manifold-runner-solenoid-jl3z9j559a
  11. Anyone know what this part is/does?

In the back of the upper intake near the firewall. That back bulb is small.
  12. Anyone know what this part is/does?

It’s on the back of my S650 GT and on my son’s S550 GT as well. Both are 6 speed manuals (Getrag) in case that matters. I’m asking because the black cap was popped up on my son’s. He’s since pushed it back down.
  13. Do you enjoy investing money?

Yes, I enjoy investing in real money not fiat currency. And helping others in and out of retirement accounts.
  14. New Ford Full Synthetic API SQ Oil is out.

If this is your first oil change, it's without a doubt semi-synth. Possibly with a mysterious additive to keep the typewrite/BBQ tick at bay. So look out for that upon start up. Also, if you plan on doing it yourself, there's a not so fun belly pan you may have to remove (unless they finally...
  15. New Ford Full Synthetic API SQ Oil is out.

Pennzoil Platinum or Pennzoil Ultra Platinum (PUP), which are different? Assuming PUP, the old "SP" stuff was GTL (made from natural gas), the new "SQ" doesn't state it specifically, so it could be a different animal all together. I use PUP in our 0w-20 vehicles (as Mopar Oil is hard to find)...
  16. New Ford Full Synthetic API SQ Oil is out.

This is the part I’m questioning. Is it the vehicle or the chemistry that’s compatible. I read it that if a vehicle calls for SP, it can take SQ as well. Not that the two specs can be mixed in large quantities. My other vehicles take 0w-20. For those applications I’m using PUP. The new SQ has...
