Who thinks Ford has finally solved the aluminum bubbling/corrosion issue this time around?

Personally, an S650 will be out of my budget for a good and long while. But having dealt with the dreaded and infamous issue on two different hoods on both my previous '17 Ecoboost and current '17 GT, if it hasn't been resolved on this generation, It would personally be a detractor against me considering one.

While I was a manufacturing engineer on the P708 '23 Super Duty at NMPDC and the S650 program was rolling in back in winter 2021, I befriended a few great people on the program, but never found out.

So what do you all think? Have any of you considered it who may've dealt with it on previous generations? Or maybe someone here already knows the answer? I'll be watching those of you who will be the first forum owners with great interest from a quality standpoint.

IIRC, this goes back to the year 2000 and the Crown Vic. My guess......24 years later its still going to be an issue. The only saving grace is the front wings are now steel again, so just the hood will be an issue

My last Mustang was a 1994 GT...what is the exact issue?

I get what you’re saying… but it’s not a problem, more of a once in awhile random paint/color issue.

I actually work in paint shop.

My Lexus has the same issue. The problem is it's aluminum and our universe is in a constant state of entropy.

*I would think some PPF would keep it from happening too much.

I wasn't aware that they went back to steel for the fenders. I recall seeing maybe one instance of bubbling on them on M6G a long time ago. I wonder what influenced the change?

Could you possibly tell me how some of the S550’s came with various foreign matter in the paint like this?..I’m trying to figure out what it is. My 16 had these sand particles in the hood clear and in the roof channel where it meets the body seam seal.

Yup 100% normal and to be expected bubbling from E coating before paint.

that’s on pretty much everything if you look that close… super normal.
Could possibly be a spec of sealer but really looks like a drip/bubble from after the phosphorus tanks and after coating.

post a zoomed out pic for reference!

Thank you! Here’s the pic. Local dealer Ford certified shop says they don’t want to touch tri stage paint. Obviously afraid of not matching.

My 15 GT had the bubbles in the roof channels. My 18 GT had no issues.

Unfortunately I have not owned a Mustang that hasn't done it. This is the hood on my 2015 it is bubbling in three different places.

That hood is one of the worst I have seen. I had 1996 Towncar for 24 years with an aluminum hood with zero corrosion issues. My 2011 GT has been good so far. What causes this is contamination of steel mix in the seams. When Ford came out with the aluminum trucks they made any dealer doing collision repair to have a completely different area to avoid contamination from steel. I sure hope Ford has taken better steps in their process. Once the hood bubbles it cannot be fixed without it returning. It must be replaced.
