LOL, really? It's pretty self explanatory... And my statement still stands... why buy a muscle car with 12-1 compression and cheap out on the gas? If you can't afford the correct gas then IMHO there's a problem which is what the OP was posting about at the beginning of this thread.

The picture just shows how much power every trim makes. Nothing about fuel.

I'd venture it's a lot more than 10HP. A previous poster speculated it could be as much as 40HP. We'll never know without some dyno numbers. But for the extra $15 bucks a tank, I'll take the power increase every time.

Almost like it was designed to run on 87... imagine that!

My take on it is that, while you need 91 or higher to realize the full potential of the engine, running it on 87 does not harm the engine as long as you aren't hearing any knocking.

My GT is my DD when I'm not on the bike. Roughly 60 miles round-trip to and from work. I fill up with 87, and have had zero issues in the last year and 11,000 miles.

Its "designed" to run on e10 fuel. Octane is a variable. If it sees low octane, it will adjust spark down. If it sees higher octane and no knock, then it will add spark to a limit. But the factory stoich point is 14.08 in the tune. Thats e10 which most stations have in 87, 89, 91 and 93.

Just a little FYI, California has at least two refineries shutting down soon......Valero, and Phillips 66. One this October and one next April, I think it is. So, get ready to pay MORE for gas in that beautiful liberal state.

Sorry, but I can't understand why anyone would use base octane fuel in a performance engine.
To save a few bucks?
I'd rather just drink one less bottle of wine a week.

Its like eating Ramen noodles vs having a steak for dinner if both are available. Just go with the higher quality food. Same goes with gas in your muscle car/sports car. Give the new engine the best gas and it will be much happier even if you dont notice it.

It has to do with cost. Nothing more.
Nobody would take 87 if it was the same price as 93.

Lmao no. It's like having a steak with only 97% of the available energy. Unless you are running balls to the wall 24/7 you would never notice the insignificant power loss. And for track days you probably want to run race gas anyway.

It's new I don't want to risk anything for the first 500 miles. It's not my commuter car anyway.
