Problem with my S650. Two days ago I installed the K&N intake, and after hard acceleration, I got a check engine light. I've already checked the connectors and looked for air leaks, but everything seems fine. Any ideas?
Be sure that all the hoses are connected and the sensor is installed in the proper direction... not much else to it, unless you inadvertently disconnected something else.
I have been running it with no issues for a couple months now (as I think a few other have)... not sure what else it could be, but you may be the second person to get a CEL. with it. Perhaps time to contact K&N. Maybe check all of the rest of the intake piping as well. Any other modifications to your car? What fuel are you running?
The answer is simple. Stay away from aftermarket "toy" intakes. If you're supercharging or turbocharging that's a completely different story. Claims of significantly better "breathing" are IMO incorrect. Claims of HP increases are IMO total B$. Dyno pulls showed no difference. IMO you are far better off to use Ford OEM and if you are ocd like me you can even change the filters more often for waaay less money. BTW IMO if using any type of "oiled" filters with required cleaning procedures and cleaning intervals you had better follow them or you will decrease the performance of your engines and even risk damaging them. IMO most of this stuff is just crap that has been hyped and marketed with no empirical improvement. Save your money for FULL synthetic oil changes and more frequent oil changes if you really want to do something good VS cosmetic for your engines.
