My third and best mustang so far. I turn off all the assist crap.

Why would you enable insurance company monitoring on a sports car?

Why would you enable lane keeping assist on a sports car?

Why did you not test the car better before purchase?

Reading the OP's post history, I feel it's in their best interest to sell the S650 and move on.

Spoiler Alert: the new and used vehicle arena is a buyer's market today. Don't be shocked at the trade-in of this, or any nearly-new vehicle today. If it's any consolation, people buying vehicles can often get them at good discounts.

For the rest of us:

Start/Stop: For those considering a new vehicle, not every one comes equipped with it. For those that do, at least one company sells defeat cables to disable it.

https://www.4dtech.com/start-stop/view-all/

https://www.4dtech.com/mustang-24-26-start-stop-eliminator/

FORScan and other programs could also be an option.

Insurance Reporting: The information I've read on-line about Ford's process is, they receive data from the vehicle, anonymize it, then re-sell it. There is personal information associated with the driver and the vehicle. Not every manufacturer is so caring about our data. Services can be turned down, features can be disabled and one fuse (Ford) pulled to prevent any uptake of information.

If anyone is using a nanny box to get better insurance rates, this is between you and the insurer.

Speedometer Problems: It should be pretty obvious if someone is driving at 22 mph / 35 kph or 55 mph / 88 kph. If the driver can tell the speedometer is mis-reporting what they are feeling or witnessing, relative to others, there's a warranty for that.

If this is a case of an insurer reading a program and witnessing something else, this is between the Driver and their insurer.

Lane Keeping Assist: the problems with Lane Assist are not unique to Ford or 7G Mustangs. I'm currently in a rental for a DD. The car tracks some roads one way, other roads another. In my example, the condition of the road and associated striping is critical. I disabled the feature. Again, there are warranties if the Driver believes the feature is operating incorrectly. Several digital services also have sensitivity adjustments.

" There are many other areas where the 24 technology is inferior to the S550." 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♂️. The only thing I can suggest to the OP and others is test-drive one, rent one, read articles, review forum threads, study owner manuals, watch YouTube and talk to people that own them. Before purchasing.

Edit,

Re-selling of driver data is, unfortunately, something common throughout the industry. How this data is gathered, stored, used and resold requires study by the Driver. Every manufacturer is different. FWIW, every vehicle I have studied, disabling these services is often quite simple. Anything from turning down a switch on a phone app to pulling a fuse or disconnecting a cable.

First of all the the indicated speed limit is way off base

Mean while lane keeping assist when enabled simple runs me off the road.

... the underlying technology is a HUGE step backward.
I agree with others that you need to both have that checked out and turn off the reporting to your insurance.

Lane assist is garbage, agreed. Turn all of that crap off. Your S550 didn't have that at all, did it? I can't remember...

On the tech, I have to disagree. As good as other manufactures? Perhaps not. But definitely better than the previous generation.

Unfortunately there is no Prius convertible, but perhaps you will enjoy a Corvette? Porsche also makes a very nice sports car...

Yes, it has an appointment with the dealer on May 20. I will see if they can make everything work. There are a number of other things on this car that don't work. I will re-post when I get the results. I used Auto trader to search for a 2018 vert with PP and expanded the search country wide, there are none that aren't high mileage vehicles.

I can understand the OP's frustration. I do a lot of car cruises and car shows. People walk up to me and always comment...beautiful car but I couldn't put up with those stupid screens!
I have a 2025 GMC Terrain. The screen is large and just so much easier to operate.
Be honest folks, Ford could have done a better job with the screen. I won't be trading or selling my 2024 with an MSRP of $56.2K since this morning KBB tells me they would buy it for $44K and some change.

Have they done the BCM water intrusion recall yet? Some members with multiple odd behaviors were found to have the issue.

Not to diminish the frustration you’re feeling, but I think you’re OK on the insurance front. I’ve owned a few vehicles with speed limit sign recognition and it’s never 100%. I doubt that even if Ford were to provide an interface to access what the camera/software thinks the speed limit is, that insurance companies even would want to use it. Think of how often there’s a semi trailer in your line of sight with the road sign and even you can’t see it. It’s far simpler and more reliable for them to just calculate your speed using their GPS device and to compare that to publicly available map/speed limit data (e.g. The way Google Maps and Waze determine the speed limit where you’re driving, which you may have noticed doesn’t always agree with your instrument cluster.)

I‘m just speculating here, so if someone closer to the industry than I am wants to jump in, I’m open to being corrected.

My 2024 Mustang GT is a huge disappointment. I would gladly trade my 24 GT for my 2018 mustang GT dead even no money changes hands. First of all the the indicated speed limit is way off base, that was not true with my 2019 Fusion or my wife's 2022 escape. It is reporting to my insurance company that when I am on a 55mph highway that the speed limit is 22 MPH!!
How, exactly is the insurance company aware of your speed, much less the speed limit?

Are you conceding to a vehicle monitoring dongle to save $$$ on insurance?
If so, and please don't take this personally, that would be a very stupid decision. I have a close personal friend who is a retired cop, former professional driver. He also did this on an early 2000's vehicle and he got dinged for hard acceleration, hard stopping, high speed. They jacked up his insurance. Remember - he's a former pro driver; he's operated limos and sedan service cars. I've never ridden with a smoother vehicle operator. Ever. It opened up a weeks long fight resolved only by finding a new insurer for less money than 'discounted' rate of his former operator.

And if that is not what's happening, please elaborate on how your insurance company has this information.

hes talking about the insurance reporting built into the car

i dont this it reports the read speedlimit vs the actual speed

either way everyone should turn this off
