I never knew this!

I saw on IG this morning where this guy showed that while driving a 7G A10 GT, if you double tap the gas pedal WITHOUT touching the paddles, it drops a few gears where just depressing it once to the same point only drops one gear or no gears. NO PADDLES were touched.

So I took it out today, and just in Drive I lightly double tapped the pedal and sure enough, it dropped a few gears!

To those who knew this...I did a search here and found no talk of this.

To those who might say "big deal, push the pedal down enough and you drop gears anyway"...it's not the same. The double tap drops the gears but the RPM's are lower. It literally drops a few gears without all the pedal travel needed.

(It's like the equivalent feel of blipping the paddle shifter down 3 times but this way, you are still locked in Drive and not Paddle Mode.)

I did try a double tap on the gas pedal a little further and the gear drop was a bit more aggressive. There IS a difference between this and just pushing the pedal down.

At the risk of snarky replies, I felt I had to share this because it's an interesting feature I didn't know about until today.

For those like me who didn't know this...try it and report back. There HAS to be a few of you here who didn't know the A10 did this!
I found this out by accident myself. (2025 Mustang GT-Premium, Performance) Seemed like normal operating proceedure and a performance feature. So, I never questioned it, just thought it was cool. Like finding another feature on Chitty, Chitty Bang-Bang...LOL.

So, I tried this in my BRaptor, and it does work. It seems to drop the gear to the RPM range. For the BRaptor, it was 1 or 2 gears.

That said, I will stay on the paddles or let it do its own thing. The tune I have does the upshift down shifts rather well.

I can confirm even on new custom tunes on the DH, this feature worked .just As it did on the wifes car. It Did a 10th down to 6th tap and it was smoooth. Based on how hard i got back into throttle the ecu decided what gear to drop to.

I played with it a little more yesterday. Seems a light double tap brings you to 3000 RPM. and a firmer double tap takes it more towards 5000 RPM.

Someone mentioned a few pages back that the target might be RPM's. He might be right?

I was playing with this again today on the highway, when cruising in 10th gear a firm quick press of the throttle dropped it down to 5th. Doing the same with a double press made no difference. I’m wondering if we’re all talking about the same action.

Is what’s being referred to: 1) foot resting lightly on accelerator; 2) tap (3/4 travel) accelerator and lift off; 3) then immediately accelerate at the desired pressure. Or is the tap at 2) a double tap?
