I've been attempting to locate the "fix" for removing the PCV Valve with the molded plastic collar around it for months after scratching mine up a bit during a catch can install. Could only find a couple of random forum/Reddit posts from F150 owners who were running into the same issue, but they all went silent with no resolution.Ford dealer has no procedures from Ford on how to remove the PCV Valve. They put a collar on to prevent people from removing it. If you have an issue with the PCV valve then Ford has to replace the valve cover assembly, that's crazy.

While I'm glad that I finally have an answer, it's a huge bummer that you can no longer just twist these out for a quick, DIY swap. Overengineering to force a trip to your local service department at it's finest.
I tend to have issues with my photos posting successfully on 7G, but I'll certainly give it another shot. Here's a close-up view of this molded plastic collar around the base of the PCV Valve, similar to what Doug shared previously in this thread. Unfortunately, I was not. After trying to outsmart that incredibly frustrating design for a few minutes, and finding no help online, I finally threw in the towel to avoid actually breaking it beyond repair (and then needing to replace the entire valve cover, apparently).Were you able to get it out?

Good news is, you cannot see the scratched up PCV Valve tip underneath the quick disconnect hose that attaches to the catch can. If you believe that this knocking sound (buzzing from this area seems to be normal operation) is being caused by a bad PCV Valve, I would probably recommend taking it back to the dealership to have them remove/disassemble the valve cover under warranty. Seems like an unnecessary risk otherwise, especially with that brand new long block replacement. Best of luck.
