Autoweek talked to Carl Widmann who's a Ford Performance chief program engineer. Widmann thinks that gas engines haven't met their day yet and that there are still a lot of people buying gas engines. He's referring to V8's and the 2.3L Ecoboost.
Ultimately he’s not giving away any „real” information regarding the S650 but considering the fact that the S650 is almost around the corner and the performance department is most likely working on Shelby/performance models I don’t think there are many other cars he could refer to. Maybe it’s just whishful thinking but I read “2.3L Ecoboost and V8’s are definitely coming to the S650” between the lines
Besides, I hope the Mach 1 will be the benchmark for the regular S650 GT as was the 2014 BOSS for the 2015 GT.
