Any truth to this 2027 BOSS rumor?

Dark horse doesn't go any faster around the track. And the pistons aren't forged...again no big help. The crank was already forged and the S550 rods (boss 302 rods) aren't exactly weak.

The Darkhorse, while heavier than a Mach1, beat the Mach1 in the lightning lap. So that is somehow not an improvement?

Also, before you say it was .2 seconds, it does not matter if you win by an inch or a mile; winning is winning.

The Dark Horse and DHSC, and the GTD are not likely to be joined by the Boss 302.

At the end of the day the exciting part of this topic is Ford potentially rolling out the engine that revs to 9,000 RPM. What they ultimately decide to call it matters little to me.

If a vehicle comes with a better engine, better tech, better tires.....is it not an improvement upon the older variant? If a vehicle does better than the older variant despite its heavier weight, is it not a better version of the vehicle?

Is not the S550 a better variant of the S197? Was the S197 not a better variant of the New Edge? (Sans the Terminator, perhaps) So on and so forth. But somehow you think this stopped from the S550 to the S650?

The other problem is:

The S650 wasn't really any better than the S550
The Dark Horse wasn't really any better than the Mach 1
The DH SC isn't really any better than the GT500

It's just a new name and slightly newer look. Same underneath.

New should be BETTER. GM just threw a bigger engine in the Corvette, for example.

Id definitely push back on that take. Yes they are SIMILAR, but definitely not the same. The S650 is more refined in every way. Now is it enough to warrant that price increase? Thats a valid conversation.

Again, my exact point. There were big changes and improvements between those other two. Entire platform changed. Not just a second throttle body and screens.

2018 was a noticeable improvement over the previous year in terms of engine and transmission. 2024? Meh.

Lost in all this is the fact that the S650 rides and handles much better than the S550. Anyone who drives both will immediately pick up the difference.

I think the S650 is a much smaller incremental improvement compared to the jump from S197 to S550. Except for styling changes it's more like the 2018 S550 refresh. Improved, yes. Enough to warrant being labeled a new generation, no.

Performance numbers are the same. Basically the same engine. Same transmissions. Front and rear ends got refreshed.

They added stuff like screens but they're just making a car that's already pricing itself out of its target market even more expensive.

Amen.. the s650 is not worthy of being called a new gen when it's a slightly massaged version of the s550, not to mention it's hella more heavy
