25C43 Water Intrusion Recall

Just got back from dealership where I schedule the recall and an oil change (free).

They not completed the recall of my car, they are looking to do it first on the stock cars and learn. They asked me couple days to try first and after they would call me in to do the service.

After the oil change and picked up the car, it was filthy, full of oiled finger prints and even a drop of oil on the spoiler.
Service Manager got my car back, did a stand up meeting with all Techs and got
It for a hand wash.

Not a good taste from this experience.

I will do the recall when I need a windshield replacement.... I don't like the prying of the windshield either so they can remove my glass, recall and replace glass. Since I'm in AZ it's only a matter of time before I need one anyways.

Does anyone know what seam sealer is recommended for this job? Ford Motorcraft TA-2-B?

I was thinking the same thing. At the very least I'm going to given it a few months so the techs can "learn" the procedure.

My windshield was replaced last year and is perfect so I don't want Ford touching it unless it cracks again. I am planning on running the check as soon as I get time, and depending upon the results, sealing the non windshield seams per the instructions. My car is outside 24x7 and thus gets a lot of rain and washing and I have not seen even a drop of water inside. Wifey is extremely sensitive to mold and she would smell it like a hound dog long before I would... For me, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Good idea on waiting so they get some experience doing all the recall. Im gonna wait as well. Will check the area as per instructions to see if any water/moisture.

Just imagine when they get their dirty hands on your car after applying goopy sealer.

OK, If your windshield was replaced, then it was professionally sealed and was not the original factory installation. The recall only applies to the shoddy way the windshield might have been installed on the assembly line.

Wouldn't that make your windshield exempt from the recall issue?

I inspected mine yesterday and found no water intrusion. Car is 17 months old and I live in Canada on the west coast where it rains all the time.

If I understand the Czech service manual correctly (and also the EN original), there is no need to lift the windshield. The only thing that needs to be lifted is the seal under the window which seems to be some rubber.

I imagine the vast majority aren't "broke".

I wanted to check under the carpet for moisture, but I ran into something odd with the trim. The door rubber weatherstrip seems almost stapled or pinched into the plastic door sill plate. It isn’t really tucked underneath like I expected. I pulled the sill trim up to release it from its clips, but the rubber molding stayed attached to it.

What’s the trick to separating the weatherstrip from the sill plate without damaging it? Do you pull the molding out first, or just lift the sill and the molding comes with it?

Not sure if links are allowed, but a tech posted the results of a fix to Reddit. Looks a little....less than professional....

In curious of the longevity of this "fix". Or is it just something to get it past the warranty period.

I’m taking mine in tomorrow for the recall. Should have it back Monday. Let’s see how it goes hopefully no damaged windshield and no need for a BCM replacement. Job looks pretty crappy but I’d rather not have to worry about this issue later down the road. Luckily my car is dark matter gray so it shouldn’t stand out as much plus the cowl will be covering it up so out of sight out of mind I guess
