My car is a garage queen. Car only has 3K on it. Never spent a night outside. South Texas weather and not driven in rain. Carefully hand washed so no water on the top. I have a dent in my fender so I am forced to leave it for one week at a body shop. It may be left outside for a few days. Recall is NOT done. Thinking of putting some large beach towels at the bottom of the windshield under the hood. Any of you guys have some better ideas? There will be a bit of wet sanding on the front/top right fender. Thanks!

I have declined to do the recall fix and even the dealer was okay with me not doing it until I'm ready. Car lives outside and gets rained on alllll the time. car wash too, still no issues. Your car should be fine. From what I have heard the recall fix only takes a few hours so long as they don't actually need to replace the BCM (which is rare) ... Might be worth getting it done at the dealer beforehand just for the peace of mind if you're that concerned.

Does it come in mostly on the passenger side below the windshield or all the way across the cowl and simply pools in the passenger kick panel?

My understanding is that the water leaks in near the passenger cowl area. There are numerous threads with pictures if you do a search on this forum.

I put a towel above the BCM to determine if any water is leaking, and if so, to catch it.

I haven't bothered to do the water test (described in the recall fix) yet, will do the next time I wash it.

That's what I plan on doing.
Waiting for the warmer weather to arrive first.

See if they’ll do it while there. Why wouldn’t you do what should be done?

Up
Because sometimes they break other stuff. Or make a mess. Or both.
Not this. I had it done. They removed the wipers and the top call cover. From then on, it’s body sealer, dry, and put things back together. You know, I don’t care who takes their car in for the recall. If you want to risk damage because you’re afraid of risking collateral damage, then there’s nothing else anyone can say.

Is theBCM beneathe the rt side kick panel? Is it tough to get in there? Don't want to beak any clips...

I got mine done when I took it in for an oil change. Pretty uneventful. Don’t hurt anything that I’m aware of.

Because there is a high probability that the dealer monkey's will break something else (like your windshield or trim clips) or slather that shit everywhere like a drunk caveman.

As mentioned, there are a TON of threads on this with pictures and detailed explanations of what you're asking. No offense but your probably the 50th person to start a new thread and ask these questions. Do a forum search. Everything is there.
