How do you close your trunk? Without a handle . . .

As often as birds do their thing on my GT I have to confess I've never noticed if it had a finger print on the trunk or not. 😉

I own your car as a 2024! Black is beautiful especially with the Bronze Package. Yes, dust, finger prints, etc. are a problem with black.
I usually use two fingers on the GT Emblem to pull it down. I also carry detailer and a cloth.

I close mine via the spoiler, but it’s a decklid spoiler. I definitely wouldn’t if it were a wing type like the performance package comes with.
Its doesn't matter what type of spoiler. Putting repeated force on it to close your trunk can cause it to loosen and possibility rub the paint where the spoiler attaches to the decklid over time. It was a common issue on the S550s and especially the Mach 1s. I had it happen to me and I didn't have a wing.

Not saying this will for sure happen, but I always use the bottom edge of decklid under the enblem just to be easy on my car.

I removed one of the factory push pins that hold the trunk liner in. I put a 10/32 nut sert in the hole and screwed the nylon "pull" loop to the nut sert FWIW

Mine looks similar. I did this after the second week of ownership. The decklid closes easy when cooler. If the car has been in the sun it closes with more resistance once the strut assists get hot.

Seems like those handles would require you so slam the trunk pretty hard while you pull your hand out of the way no? Also, wouldn't the strap get caught in the seal? Im all for making life easier, but this seems like it would over complicate a minor inconvenience.

Make the strap proper length so it does not end up in the gasket. Never had a hand or fingers get caught in closing lid. Touching the paint on the edges to close can over time wear paint especially when hands might be dirty. Everyone has their own ideas for what works for them.

Ive never heard of anyone wearing through clear coat of a paint finish by using their fingers to close a door or trunk. That would be some pretty awful paint lol. Seems like a reach to justify a handle, but what ever floats your boat man. 👍🏻

I just use the edge of the decklid. Dont use the spoiler. Overtime you can make it loose and it cracks the paint where it attaches to the trunk.

Recently bought a ‘19 GT350 and I can say will happen. When I did its first wash the other week, I saw the body paint under the corners of the spoiler are rubbed off. And then saw the spoiler is a little loose. Immediately figured was from closing the trunk with the spoiler.

I've had my brand new GT Premium for almost a whole week now. Love the car!

One thing I find missing (which other cars seem to always have these days) is a handle or hand grip inside the trunk, so you can close it without touching & smudging the exterior paint. I end up reaching up and around, trying to touch the "GT" emblem to push the lid down -- which is kind of awkward.

How do you guys do it? Is there an accessory or add-on part available to install a handle inside the trunk lid?

Thanks! (and a pic for good measure 😎):

I just use the edge as others have said. The wife does the same on her S550... that black inlay shows the fingerprints and fingernail scratches really well. I just use some polish at detail time... scratches no more.

I gently press on the GT emblem, as others have suggested. I painted my emblems with plasti-coat the first week I got my car and I was worried that the constant contact would wear it away or cause it to peel, but after two years and hundreds of closings, everything is still good as new.

Birds? Don't get me started. We live near a nesting area for Canadian Cobra Chickens aka Canada Geese by the dozen, Those sods have the bomb load of a B52 and the accuracy of a Stuka.

Lol! It would take year's of touching in the exact same place to wear out the paint on these cars.
