Using Forscan and being intimidated by it

All I can say is: Making the listed changes to the IPC turns off the annoying seat belt spalsh and warning chimes (on my 2026 Mustang). Did it affect any other systems ? ... "don't know and doesn't matter". It does not affect any mechanical function of the belts - like the inertia reel.
Air bags - I doubt it, but don't know. If you have concerns, the easiest fix is a simple buckle (buckle extension) inserted into all of the belts.

I forgot I wanted to ask you what the top one is "the select shift" ? I don't quite understand what that means?

FWIW - been using Forscan since 2018 on my Ford trucks. Yes, make back up copies of everything! I print out a copy of the changes I want to make (copy and paste instructions from various sources) and the "as built" data with the data to be written. I make the changes on the as built printout, then make the same changes in Forscan. Then I file the hard copy away with the paperwork I keep on the car, as a hard copy record(s) of all Forscan changes.

I know this is months later but I was just saw this thread. Quick question: If the car does an automatic firmware update over-the-air, does it overwrite your changes? I don't know how these automatic updates work, but I would presume they are tailored to the VIN... and the VIN will translate on Ford's end, to what model/options the car has. ??? Is it the firmware that's updated or some file the firmware reads off of?

So the download is a file named [My VIN Number].ab and I save it to the IDS directory:
c:\Program Files\Ford Motor Company\Calibration Files

when I install ForScan?

Do I need the module addresses below as well?

Hi! I purchased my 25' Ecoboost, base model, about 6 months ago. The first thing I did was to install a sub, which sounds great until I hit the accelerator. I found out that the crappy ANC is what's causing the issue and attempted to disconnect the microphones. I got the rear one but needed to get the front one, which proved to be very difficult, and so I threw in the towel.

Yesterday I purchased a new laptop and my OBD reader is on the way (purchased the one recommended from this forum).

I plan on changing a few minor things, which would be the ANC and the door bong noises.

I feel like this is super confusing and I'm honestly intimidated by the process.

I am afraid of bricking my car.

For a beginner, how difficult will this actually be? I'm vested and am going to try this out, but I am curious as to how not to brick. Any words of encouragement?

a practice I follow is: make one change, restart vehicle, verify change worked and back up then repeat process for each change. If something didn’t work, you’re only chasing one demon

Nothing wrong with getting a copy of your ab data as it is before you start making changes, but keep in mind that if you scroll to the bottom of the module config page in FORScan, you will see this "write all" button there. All you have to do is click that and FORScan will pull the ab data for that module from Ford and write it.

This depends on whether the vehicle has synced up with the server or not between the time you made the change and the time you get an OTA for the module you made changes to. Eventually, the FORScan changes you made will make their way to the cloud and become part of your ab data. Once this happens, future updates will include the changes you made in them and won't revert it back.
