We are decades away from making any significant headway in electrical infrastructure or mass EV adoption. They already tried that, with state and federal government's pushing for it and it didn't take. Car manufacturers have already reversed course and are either shelving or scaling back EV production in favor of their ICE models again. We aren't ready. The Mustang will be a straight ICE vehicle for at least the next decade.
For straight EVs I agree. But hybrids are the current trend. I would be stunned if there wasn't a hybrid version of the Mustang in some form for the next generation.

All I want is the removal of A.S.S. !!!! and the ability to switch from carplay to fm radio using steering wheel controls. but that 2nd one is probably just me.

"Decades" means at least two which means 20+ years...
I strongly disagree with your opinion. Although the mustang will probably have ICE only option for the foreseeable future hybrids or pure EV versions are inevitable if Ford wants to sell the Mustang outside of the US and in numbers they are doing today.

However, if the Mustang gets neglected any further by Ford then the S750 or whatever it might be called will still use the same platform we have today (D2C) and as a result we'll see even less improvements in the next generation.

It's up to Ford and their vision for 2030 and beyond. Either invest in a new platform and build a new car from the ground up or keep investments as low as possible and try to milk customers as much as possible.
If they do the later then the next 'gen' Mustang will be their last.

A hybrid isn't ev my man, and unlike pure EVs that are kinda struggling right now, hybrids are all the rage. I mean on of the best, most reliable, affordable, efficient vehicles on sale is the maverick hybrid. Those are popular as hell right now.

I believe Ford said around a quarter to a third of all f-150 sales are hybrid now. Hybrids are everywhere you look now, so the demand, and popularity is there. Furthermore, performance hybrids seem pretty successful.

I see no reason why a 5.0 gt hybrid wouldn't be successful. It would probably have close to 600 hp bone stock, get better fuel economy for people who use their mustang to commute, be better in the snow with AWD, and would hook like a mofo. The instant torque of an electric motor paired with the high revving monster that is the 5.0, the thought of it makes your mouth water.

The most hardcore purists would cross their arms and turn up their noses. But those were the same people for the most part who hated the mustang getting IRS and said a 10 speed auto in the mustang would ruin it. Now look at us.

I personally believe Ford should take major learnings from their affordable EV skunkworks program and apply it to the development of the s750 and beyond. Imo the mustang needs a new multi energy modern platform that can set it up for success for decades to come.

The affordable ev team came up with radical new development and engineering methods that resulted in them being able to drastically improve cost efficiency and make it lower cost, lower weight, and higher quality, and they've said this will influence future gas products. The mustang would really benefit from this approach. Making it more cost efficient to produce, give it a platform that finds ways to reduce weight. If they took enough weight out to make a mustang hybrid weight as much as a normal s650, that would be a pretty big win.

It would probably have close to 600 hp bone stock, get better fuel economy for people who use their mustang to commute, be better in the snow with AWD, and would hook like a mofo. The instant torque of an electric motor paired with the high revving monster that is the 5.0, the thought of it makes your mouth water.

Agreed about the hybrid stuff.

But there is almost no chance we will get a 5.0 hybrid. There is just no room under the hood without a massive redesign that would turn the Mustang into a big heavy boat, and the cost would price it out of the market.

Now I have no doubt we will eventually get an eco boost hybrid or some variant, they might even slap a GT badge on it. But it won't be a Coyote.

Idk man, apparently a 5.0 hybrid is in development. I agree it would probably have trouble fitting with the current platform. You say they would have to turn it into a boat, but it's hard to say.

Visually, I'd like to see the next mustang push the wheels to the corners more, especially in the front. Shrinking the overhangs would make it look a lot better, but also improve performance. The 2.3 is already a front-mid setup, but maybe pushing the front wheels forward would give them the packaging flexibility to make the 5.0 front mid as well, and that might give them more space to be able to package hybrid components.

A lot of what ifs. Is there a way to design a next gen 5.0 mustang platform that allows them to package a 5.0 hybrid without turning it into a boat? Time will tell.

I doubt they can make it an AWD hybrid like the Corvette eRay and new Grand Sport X as there isn't room for all of the hardware. The C8 had the room baked into the design, so the S750 would need some major changes. Adding an electric motor in between the engine and trans is possible if they move the front wheels forward as DeluxeStang mentions, so it'd be a hybrid with just RWD.

By the time Ford introduces the next generation, the Mustang will be overdue for a new platform. The Corvette E-ray is about 300 pounds heavier than the Stingray. That seems reasonable for the performance upgrade. Look how heavy the GTD is.

Agree a hybrid like the E-ray wouldn't be the base GT, but it could be a performance upgrade at a higher price like the E-ray currently is.

I suppose another possibility is a mild hybrid version that doesn't add a lot of power but improves gas mileage and emissions compliance. There are lots of vehicles out there with a hybrid version that's only a small upcharge from the non-hybrid version. In the case of the Ford Maverick, its the same price.

It was reported last year that Ford is developing a hybrid Mustang supposedly nicknamed the S650E. But no details on the powertrain are known. Its just internet rumor/speculation/wishful thinking that a 5.0 variant is involved. A 4 or 6 cylinder hybrid variant makes way more logical and financial sense.

EV or AWD will be the begining of the end of Mustang. That's what a MachE is for. Mustang is meant to be a V8 RWD. Always was, always will be. Anything else will not be called just a Mustang. Maybe a Mustang plus or something else stupid.

How about a FWD Mustang then? Or (gasp) a turbocharged inline-4 Mustang? 🤑

I think if when we get a facelift, they just kick the can on platform changes…

Who, knows… if we start seeing $10-$12 gallon gas, that new EV platform might be back on the menu

Why are we even talking about Hybrid or EV mustang? Go buy a Prius. Then maybe a pink dress while you're at it.
