Has anyone done any actual research to see if an oil cooler is added if a dealer can change any values in Forscan to account for it. I'm wanting to track my base GT in the future so I'm looking at adding an oil cooler. This might be a phone call to the dealer or Ford parts support to find out

Edit: Here's what myself and you all need to read first

Going to find out myself here shortly. Ordered a FP Oil Cooler and having the dealer install it hopefully next week. Will ask them about that sensor reading when I take it in.

What Mustang have you seen that makes over 800 horses?
Yet if the Procharger fails, only the Procharger is broken.
Procharger is much more likely to snap the crank and trash your entire engine due to side-loading, and I don’t know where you live but 8,9,1k hp mustangs are the norm around SE Michigan.

Even the PP is not all that great. The 1/2 shafts are weak. Whipple you GT PP and those shafts could fail. This is why many put GT350 shafts. They can take between 700-800 horses. What Mustang have you seen that makes over 800 horses?
1- half shaft upgrade is cheap and easy.
2- every one with a Whipple
I think the PP is a great bang for the buck

There is no sensor. The computer just has to be programmed knowing the cooler is part of the system. Which, quite frankly calls into question the accuracy of what the cooler is actually doing.

There was another poster that had the dealer install his, and he's saw no change in temps. The dealer was unaware Of the change needed and said there was no support to help. The guy was not happy.

After about 10 min of hard pulls on the highway (manual trans), my engine oil temp goes up to 273, and then I'd back down because i know at 280 it will go into limp mode. I took it to the dealership and they told me they will change the oil to Mobile (i'm assuming full synthetic) at next oil change.

Is this an issue? They didn't mention anything except when they test drove the car and kept it around 4500 RPM it rose to about 240F.

Is anyone else experiencing this?
Update based on my experience this weekend at a very hot Road Atlanta track weekend. Ambient temps were 92, but on the asphalt in the paddock it was definitely hotter and no clouds.

I saw my engine oil temp get up to 289 on a couple of occasions. In the later track sessions it would fluctuate between 276 and 289. This is on a PP car. The car never went into limp mode or gave any warnings or errors when it was running at these temps. I am using Motorcraft 5w-30 full synthetic.

Was the AC on or off?

FWIW: I've seen substantially lower oil temps with the AC on. I suspect it's because of the cooling fan activation.

Thanks for sharing. That confirms my suspicions.

Yea, I wonder what the cSt is at that temp? I'd do a UOA on that oil, before changing, and consider 5w-50 before doing it again.

I’m going to send to Blackstone to have it analyzed. I’ve debated going to a 5w-50 (edited from my original post accidentally saying 5w-30) but there is nothing in the factory manual about using a higher weight oil when tracking. They do have a section on track use and increased maintenance so I would expect it would say if a higher weight oil was recommended. I’m unsure, but have stuck with 5w-30 for now. I don’t mind switching if there is definitive guidance that it is better or needed. I am changing the oil after every track weekend.
