I was putting the ceratec in today which worked wonders got rid of the engine tick instantly only used half a bottle and car ran smoother right after when I noticed my engine seemed to be missing 2 screws. I was hoping some of you guys could post a picture of your engines like mine to see what is supposed to be here if anything. Found it odd that they have 2 screw holes but nothing there and have had a few random issues with this car since I purchased it (was missing a microphone) for example.

Thank you!

Normal - Nothing to worry about.

I believe that is normal since Ford uses the valve cover for other vehicle that do use those screw holes.
Also I would be hesitant to put any additives in the oil like ceretec because it could void your warranty on your internal engine parts. Plus its not a good idea to use additives on a new engine with less than 10k miles from my research. I know the tick is annoying but is normal for the Coyote.

Re: additive - It’s hard to say it’s internal unless you’ve removed everything external

You know Ford puts the same shit in the engines out of the factory or else nobody would buy an engine that ticks from the dealership. That's why the tick happens at the first Oil Change.

They why don’t they include it in their magic mystery oil, i mean would be easy to justify added expense, two in one like shampoo and conditioner ?

Because that would cost more for them to manufacture and since they are saying it doesn't damage the engine having the tick it wouldn't be financially viable to waste money on something that just causes a very very annoying tick to an engine 75%+ of the time.

source? as the only additive I heard them use on new vehicles is maybe XL-17. I had my oil analysis done on my first oil change and there was no additives found. No tick after first oil change.

Common sense a brand-new engine that ticks after the first oil change 75% of the time isn't normal, I don't care what you say. It is a very loud tick that happens after the first oil is changed.

So easy fix, don’t change the oil, just add a little here and there? Is the tick temperature dependent?

LOL common sense is not a source, however a Blackstone oil analysis is. It is your car, so do what you will as I was just letting you know the POSSIBLE issues down the road with Ford if a warranty issue would arise. I also had a 2015 that did not have tick, no oil additives used.

Ford stated the tick is normal:

Which test did you pay for? And for what purpose did you test it just wanted to see what was in your oil?
