LOL common sense is not a source, however a Blackstone oil analysis is. It is your car, so do what you will as I was just letting you know the POSSIBLE issues down the road with Ford if a warranty issue would arise. I also had a 2015 that did not have tick, no oil additives used.

Ford stated the tick is normal:

Which test did you pay for? And for what purpose did you test it just wanted to see what was in your oil?
I am having other issues, so i did not get it done to just to see if there was oil additives used. plus it is always a good idea to have your oil analyzed to see how your engine is doing. Check them out, Blackstone laborites, I think I paid $40 or 50

If this tick is so normal, then why doesn't it happen when the car is fresh off the line, at the dealership? Imagine buying a brand-new car and you hear an engine tick that is as loud as this one is, you aren't buying that car flat out. If Ford said this tick was bad for the car that would initiate a massive recall on one of the most expensive parts of the car.
70,763 mustangs have been sold in 2024 and 2025. Let's estimate that putting a new engine would cost what $10k minimum? That's $707M to fix the engine tick, now let's factor in the profit ford makes per vehicle.
" Ford's overall average profit per vehicle for 2024 was estimated at $3,199" So Ford has made roughly $226M profit selling Ford Mustangs.
$707M - $226M = $481M loss due to 1 vehicle

Total Net Profit from Ford in 2024 = 5.9B ; 8% drop in Net Profit from an engine tick. If it doesn't cause harm to the consumer, IE, manufacturer defect in seatbelts etc that type of recall then they aren't going to spend the money to fix it nor will they spend the money to R&D it and correct it. If 1/1000 engines fail due to this tick the cost in fixing that 1/1000 is significantly less than fixing all 100% of the vehicles.

A splash shield is cheaper than a whole new assembly

Common sense a brand-new engine that ticks after the first oil change 75% of the time isn't normal, I don't care what you say. It is a very loud tick that happens after the first oil is changed.

Welcome to owning a Coyote. The "typewriter" or "BBQ" tick has been thing since 2011. It became more prevalent on the Gen 3s. If you do a search on the 6g forum you will get a topic list 3 pages long on the subject.

My advice is to not obsese over it. If you do enjoy the ride...

You know Ford puts the same shit in the engines out of the factory or else nobody would buy an engine that ticks from the dealership. That's why the tick happens at the first Oil Change.
Mine has had 3 dealer done oil changes and my engine does not tick. So you might be listening to internet rumors.

They all tick. Some more than others. But it's generally not something you hear unless you are in a garage, drive through, or parking structure. Most people are oblivious. There is a TSB at Ford saying it's normal and that no service will be done for it.

Ryan, I know what you are saying and have heard people on this form people complain about it. However I have really good hearing, and I keep my DH in a heated enclosed garage. So when I say mine does not tic it doesn't. I have no idea why. It's obvious Ford does not know what causes it that's why they say it's normal. I'm just saying whatever causes some of these engines to tic is just not ticking in my car. I'm sure, I'm not the only one that has no tic? Like I said I have had three dealer preformed oil changes. Who knows maybe down the road it will tic?
