I'm a nerd, I like numbers and data so here's a fun list of cars and their respective tire, weight, hp, and ratios. It's sorted by tire to weight ratio. You can see just how little tire the Mustang GT gets (and that a stock BRZ has a better tire to weight ratio than a GT500.)

Interesting but basically 2 seater sports cars. Where’s the Camaro, Challenger, and of the German sport coupes?

Supposedly according to the tech sheet they put out the base tire is going up to 255/45 18. Kind of something but odd choice on the higher trims.
That’s a typo. The factory is not going to put a 255 on an 18” wheel.

I can add Camaro and some offerings from BMW, Merc, Audi.

I didn't include the Challenger cause this is a car comparison. No point throwing boats in the mix.

That would be a lot of typo's then as the rim is listed wider than before as well 8.5" vs the old 8" that is now, but who knows I'm sure we'll find out soon enough.

Dark Horse base still carries the 255/275 setup, which is to your point, a joke as well. We have to jump to a 65-75K mustang spec, to get a decently sized tire. Just typing that makes me want to junk-punch someone.

Ford needs to do like chevy (OMG WUT). You can option a camaro with a tremec and 305/315 supercar 3R tires. How can chevy out-option Ford?
Yes, Chevy does a good job offering junior performance packages at a good price.

The PP was good for the price, but didn't have everything you wanted for a track car. And then they raised the price 50%.

The PP2 cost the same as a 1LE package, but included only half the hardware.

The Mach 1 had the right hardware, but increased the price again. And they dropped the PP2 so it wouldn't compete with it.

Dark Horse looks to be more of the same, just with a dumber name.

But if you really care about performance anyway, the first thing you are going to do is get lighter, wider, and sticker wheels and tires. Any sort of performance use you want a dedicated set of wheels and tires you can swap on, and off as needed. As you don't want to be burning up your good sticky (and expensive) rubber on the street. Or listening to it howl. And real street tires are slow and won't last long (and will start to howl) if you take them to the track much.

Ok I added a few more cars to the list, including the boat @Bikeman315
(The Challenger is trash, no surprise there.)

Ford, being an OEM, tends to have pretty conservative clearances for fenders and struts. The GT350 came with wider fenders, which allowed wider tires.

Unless the S650 chassis has been designed for a bigger wheel well / wider fenders, I don't think you'll see bigger tires. It was a big surprise to see the PP2 with stock GT fenders running 305s, and they poked out a fair amount in a very non-OEM way. Gas mileage is worse with the tires poking out in the airflow, so they won't do that on the common option packages.

That said, I'm sure we'll see some performance models like the PP2 or Mach1 at some point in the future. They won't show those for the first MY, but they'll have a roadmap with plans to release them to keep interest and sales up in later MYs. This is normal OEM behavior.

I think we also need a $$$ column in here somewhere. Cost per hp/lb or some such, as this does have bearing on the other columns.

So looks like a used C6 Z06 or a new BRZ are the most performance per dollar out there whether for cornering or power

Well, maybe not. Rotational mass and where it's located will have something to say about this.

The Dark Horse is already identical to the Mach1 from the S550. So, we already ARE seeing performance models "like" it.

Care to elaborate?
Rotational mass and location on both BRZ and C6Z are great; I don't think anyone believes those cars are not performance bargains.

I'm just providing the info you asked for.

With performance being a relative attribute. And if a "performance bargain" is what this exercise is designed to illustrate, I would say that there are too many variables to accurately define what "performance" actually is.
