In some states, comprehensive claims don't increase rates. If you pay out of pocket, that might be $5K+ (hood, bumper--Ford's position is bumpers cannot be repaired, lip, repaint--most likely don't need blend if repainting hood + bumper, since the fenders are on a different visual plane. Also the body shop may say they need to re-calibrate the front sensors just from removing the bumper--I don't think this is actually required).
On a prior '25 GT I got a dent/wrinkle in a fender that could have been PDR'd if not for some visible paint transfer onto the other car (they were passing me on the shoulder and scraped me). Initial estimate >$6K just for that fender. That doesn't even include the "supplements" (when body shops ask insurance for more money), likely at the end of the day they woulda blown that bill up to $10K, as many body shops ask for multiple supplements.
Cars are 4,000 pound hunks of steel that go 80+MPH everyday, but they also have to float through the universe without touching anything like fragile soda cans. God forbid something touches your car--BAM, instant multi-thousand dollar loss. It's ridiculous, I expect car makers to come up with better materials technology by now
