So after many hours of 3D surface modeling with Ford CAD data I have a piece that fits. It's 2.5mm thick. Can 3D print these but not sure how to attach it yet. Guess I could add some tabs and then use little screws but not sure that would hold up to rocks, snow, slush, bits of rubber, etc. -All the best, Hein at DIYvan

Thanks for creating this piece Hein! You have a customer right here when you perfect the prototype. My S650 is off the road waiting for spring and I've been seeing all of the DIY options folks out there are coming up with. I was holding my breath for Ford to at least issue a TSB on this if enough people bring this to their attention, but I'll go aftermarket if it means plugging up that hole and not having the car get eaten from the inside out. Keep up the good work!

Can you incorporate a back flange like I did with the fiberglass infill I made?

Would it be better to extend the panel you have created to use some of the existing fixings nearer the edge, such as the circular hole top right?

Would side slide groves help / would so it can slide into place using the existing liner to hold it into position? Would you be able to fashion a ‘mud guard’ that attaches using the existing mud flap attaching points but extends just enough to cover the spot?

FYI, those with a 2024 Mustang Performance Pack, you should have in the trunk of the car, side bottom air deflector/strikers. Correct me if I am wrong but I believe that they would fit in this hole in the fender wheel well you are describing.

Although not directly related to the main topic of this thread, those "air deflectors" were supposed to be installed on the car by the Dealer during the PDI (according to the PDI checklist - listed under "loose packed items"). They should not be left in the trunk by the dealer, unless you request that they do not install them pre-delivery.

Is that new product to cover the holes in the back of front wheel well? If so you have two of them for both sides? And all the previous owners should have them to cover it as well! If so, I’ll be calling my dealership to have em as well!

The brake air deflectors do not cover that hole. I got this installed and it does not come anywhere near the fender.

Oh I see, man! Ford should be making something to cover those holes for all the Mustangs that have caused problems in the back of the front wheel wells!

Thanks for the share and this seems totally viable. If you could add some tabs there for maybe bumper clips to hold on to the fender / I reckon that will be winning.!

We did not realize they were there till days later. I picked up the car from the dealer by myself after it was delivered from a dealership 500 miles away. Of course, I didnt think to open the trunk. When I go for an oil change I will have them add it on.

Thanks for the pic. I am not mechanical at all but when I made that comment it was just a thought that maybe that was the reason Ford did not cover the hole but now we now. That's why we come to these forums to learn from each other.

Seems like many dealers missed this, I know ours did.

That's what I have in mind:

Possibly these:
https://www.clipsandfasteners.com/product-p/a21780.htm
or these:
https://www.clipsandfasteners.com/GM-Ford-Fascia-Retainer-15mm-Hd-Dia-23mm-Lgth-p/a17103.htm

both would require drilling holes into the existing liner. How do you all feel about that?

All the best,
Hein
