All, I have posted this in some other threads regarding the 2024 mustang front inner wheel well openings. For those of you who are not aware, there is an opening directly behind each front wheel where stones, dirt, sand get tossed into. Once it goes in, there is no way for it to get out unless you clean it out. The stones will work their way between the outer plastic rocker molding and the pinch weld where they etch their way through the paint. The opening also exposes the K member as well as the body sheet metal. So as you drive your car, you are damaging a place that under these circumstances becomes VERY vulnerable to rust and corrosion. I have never seen such a poorly designed inner fender well? Ford as well as the dealers need to hear about this so hopefully they can get a new design for this half of the wheel well.

Here is a video put up on youtube. If you have seen it great, but if you have not and are not aware of this, please watch this or go look at your wheel well, you will see what I'm talking about. It is much easier to see on a lift, but I discovered this the first night just laying down looking under the car.

Either this winter or this spring I plan on making something to cover this. I'm curious to hear others' thoughts on this.

Thank you

Didn't notice , ill take a look at mine. Sure does seem like a very weird location to place an opening.

Is the S550 the same? Curious if there will be an aftermarket product to solve this, would rather not try and address this myself.

No, the 550 did not have this

Once my car arrives I will look at this situation. I can see me using kydex material to fabricate closing off the opening.
I'm going to work on it this Winter. It's crazy that after spending $70000 (all in) that we have to work on something this basic.

Its like in 2011 the front lower control arm bushings would fail early due to heat from the cats. I fabricated heat shields that solved the issue. Ford later came out on the twelves with shields. Ford might fix this later on but we will be stuck on our own.

This would be horrible if you are driving in snow and salt. My DH tires are rock sponges. I will have to look in the morning

I almost wonder if properly designed mud flaps would help.

Ya, that...is not going to work. Thanks for posting.

The openings are purpose-cut. There have been instances of seats and whatnot installed which were not supposed to be on the car. I wonder if those liners are for another spec, another model and were installed by mistake

I plan to look this over when I install my jacking rails as I will have to trim some of that cover anyway.

I didn't take note of the opening there in the wheel wells when doing work recently, and will take a closer look later, but I have noticed much more more dirt, gravel, sand stones, rocks etc.. getting caught underneath the cover in comparison to my S550. Thank you for the heads up.

Certainly would, as long as it covers the opening. We all need to bring this up to the dealer and Ford so hopefully they fix the problem and then at least there would be a new inner wheel well to replace this one.

Until that happens. It's certainly better than all that crap getting inside the car.
