Ford Shows 4-door Mustang Hybrid to Dealers; Price <$40k, <4 sec 0-60, size/design likened to Panamera

Didn't Chevy do this with the SS not that long ago and it flopped big time? Granted they didn't call it the Camaro4 and named it after a trim level so maybe that's why it flopped...IDK. This one would at least have an entry level engine to make it more affordable as the SS was only a v8 and pricey from what I remember. Maybe there's lots of ex-Fusion customers out there pining for a sedan again, who knows.

Yes but I think it flopped because it was ugly and looked like a stretched Impala

I think this could actually sell......right now I have an Accord as my daily and if this has decent rear seat room- I could see myself picking one up for next daily driver (although part of me is thinking of picking up another 2 door Mustang as well...if I found the right spec used)

I'd like to see something more along the lines of the previous generation Chargers, by that I mean an aggressive styling and solid performance. A Fusion is way too bland, especially if they are even considering slapping the Mustang name on it.

It's not coming until s750 which is why it's taking awhile. I wonder if dealers were just shown a stretched s650 or if it was something with different styling for the future.

While they just keep adding variants to the Mustang, how about ditch the back seats, move the engine to mid, price it just under $100K and keep me from buying a C8

I welcome this actually. What they SHOULD do is call it the Cougar which was a longer wheelbase more luxurious Mustang. But I do understand the Mustang “brand” has global appeal. And based on all the current data showing the 35 and under crowd are done with SUVs and want 4-door sedans, this thing makes a lot of sense.

Let's see if I get this correct. Similar to the ThunderBird, you build what sells like hotcakes, then you upgrade it to a 4 door. For a while, upscale buyers like it, and you make it much larger. Soon, gas prices and loss of customer base, you almost discontinue it. Then all at once, you turbo and supercharge it, and make it lively again. But as soon as sales drop off, you discontinue the car.

FoMoCo, you've done this too many times already, yet you're trying it again. Will you folks ever learn?

The Mustang Mach-E would be selling just as many units if they had just called it the Mach-E, Galaxie, or Torino, and they wouldn't have pissed off tens (or hundreds) of thousands of Mustang owners.
