So would you recommend the MT82-D4 over the 10R80 for the S650? I hear the current 10R80s might have had the issues fixed, but I see that on FordTechMakuloko that they are still seeing the internal drum issues. I spoke to someone that works at GM and they said they fixed all of the 10L80/10L90 issues. But I can't get past how fast and smooth the 10R80 can potentially shift at WOT (e.g. for drag racing / road racing).

I wouldn’t. My 10r80 has been incredible…
Can’t wait to put a converter in … but even as is. 🤌

I'm reading a few of the magazine tests for the 2024 Mustang GTs and Dark Horse, and they're in the mid 12s for the 1/4 mile and low 4s for the 0-60. Yet I hear people are taking them to the track and running like 11s "stock" - some then explain they removed the rear seats/spare, or went with a carbon driveshaft etc but its somehow stock.

I'm trying to get a realistic idea of how much faster they'd be over what I have now, without modifying/tuning a new S650. Has anyone taken their bone stock S650 GT to a track? Manual or automatic doesn't matter. I'd love to buy another stick car but I am not a huge fan of the MT-82.
Not uncommon for people to beat magazine times by a few tenths on decent tracks. Low 12s high 11s are achievable for GT and DH. The MT-82 is a lot better than the ones I had in 2013 and 2015. I also have a 10R80 car and it has had zero issues.

I would never buy an auto, so there is your answer from me. My S550 had 33k miles in her when I sold her and the MT82D4 was perfect, especially after I added 4.09 gearing.

How does the MT82-D4 hold up in the long-term, like say 100k miles (without any mods or having to replace anything)? The last manual I had was the TR-3650 in my 07 GT and that needed the MGW shifter to feel right, and some Redline D4 ATF, I never liked how the clutch felt from the factory either but just got used to it over the years.

Smoke a dozen T5s at 3-400hp. You’ll praise the mt82s ability to hold power and high rpm

also the tremec is overrated, people act like it’s a T56 viper spec or something…
There is always two buckets. Based on your videos and pics we know what bucket you are in. Those people pushing the car with great driving skills on track and those good drivers enjoying sports cars. The tremec for good drivers enjoying sports cars has wonderful engagement. I think that's why it gets a lot of hype. I had to Google T56 Viper spec.

Don’t get too caught up with what the internet says. The 10 speed in my F150 has been flawless and the 10 speed in my 19 PP1 was definitely good… drag mode is so much fun…

If you want something without fear of it ever breaking get a Corolla

Eh… break 1st… then replace.. especially at 2500 a pop.

it’s not a stick car… stick cars on drag radials that get into nasty wheel hop possibly may break an axle under certain conditions.

10r80 cars with fluid converters tend to have far fewer issues.
Agreed ! I would not drag race a manual period as there is too much shock load on the drivetrain as also clutch wear...Saw once a guy with a Hellcat Challenger with a 6 spd that sheared off his gear$$$ or broke something else inside his tranny...While Dodge already geared it taller compared to a Scatpack to probably keep the torque load lower as my uneducated guess...LOL

Had my car at the drag strip yesterday. Hot and humid so not great conditions.

I put my drag radials on for the first time (Nitto 555rII in 275x40 -19) and the car was very consistent, good bracket car. Everything I tried on the launch lead to a 12.3 ET. Sometimes 12.33 and others 12.37.

I have performance package and magneride so the extra weight of those doesn't help. In much cooler weather on the stock Pirelli PZero I ran a 12.2.
