And that’s probably why a lot of the Focus RS engines in the US have issues with LSPI due to them using 5W50. In Europe the spec is 5W-40 and they have LSPI formulations for the same engine
It’s a shame they didn’t replace Atlas with another darker blue or maybe a dark green.
The wireless pad in my Tesla isn’t good either. It’s inherent with all wireless charging as it is very inefficient in general.
There might be improvements but there are a lot of losses in the form of heat...
Yeah they got rid of Atlas Blue which is what I was thinking of ordering. Also raised the prices by $3k, and deleted the wireless charging pad (which is no biggie to me). So basically $50k for a base GT with bare bones options. That's going to be a no for me dawg!
Yikes.
At least on S197 Ford knew about the problem to the point they had a small gutter system and a plastic sheet over the BCM to help guide the water away. Rather than seal up the area they basically gave it a poncho.
So I was reading NHTSA's reports on the 2024 Mustang and saw several complaints about water intrusion from the passenger side (one person filed a complaint for the rocks hitting the pinch welds due to the holes in the wheel liner, more people need to file for this).
This was a problem back in...
So I see S197 is also D2C but S550 was a major difference from S197. I guess I didn’t realize S550 and S650 are based on D2C.
I personally preferred my S197

According to that, the Performance Pack uses the Mach 1 steering rack and the S550 GT350/GT500 rear suspension parts.
I am not sure why Ford even called the 2024 Mustang the S650 platform. The new headlights, display screen, SYNC4 is...
Let me just pull up this oldie...

But regarding Gen 4 Coyote, owner's manual says 10qt of 5W-30 or 0W-30 and that's what I would use. But on the track, I wouldn't hesitate to run a synthetic xW-40 or xW-50 that meets API SP / ILSAC...
LOL same argument from 2002 when Ford switched to 5W-20. Everyone was bible thumping their owner's manual claim that Ford knew better and these newer engines had "tighter tolerances blah blah"... Then it turns out even Ford engineers were even saying to use 5W-30 in the modular V8s instead of...
Yes, one manual for 2024 S650. But I was talking about Ford in general with viscosity recommendations over the years sometimes even the same engine but different regions (but made in one factory). The modular V8s sold in Australia and Saudi (but made in Romeo or Windsor) were spec'd for a...
Regular GT is 10 qt of 5W-30 (synthetic blend) and the owner's manual doesn't specify anything different for the Dark Horse. The alternative oil is 0W-30 for colder climates and high altitude driving (above 7500').
If you are tracking your car, I wouldn't hesitate to run a xW-40 or xW-50...
Not the Dark Horse, but the GT350 was known to drink oil very quickly. Car and Driver's magazine review was kind of hilarious saying they had to pop open the hood so often to top off the oil (they used like 18 qt of top off oil during their long-term test) about 1 qt every 2000 miles. They said...
I've read that 220F-230F is the norm for engine oil temperatures, pushed as high as 260F-270F in extreme conditions. This is NOT the same as cylinder head temperature or engine coolant temperature.
Ford's oil viscosity recommendations are all over the map, even for the same engine with the same parts.
The 2.3L in the Focus RS here in the US uses 5W-50 synthetic but in Europe, there's a specific Ford 0W-40 synthetic oil spec. And obviously the regular 2.3's use 5W-30. EcoBoost actually...
I usually go here to check out the latest info.

FWIW the ordering guides don't always come out at the same time as when the ordering banks open. It doesn't make sense but it has...
For those that are saying use a towel, tint the windows, etc... I understand those are great suggestions. But the OEMs typically test their vehicles in extreme temperature conditions (like -40 degrees to +120F ambient). If the steering wheel plastic is reported to be cracking on numerous...
How does the MT82-D4 hold up in the long-term, like say 100k miles (without any mods or having to replace anything)? The last manual I had was the TR-3650 in my 07 GT and that needed the MGW shifter to feel right, and some Redline D4 ATF, I never liked how the clutch felt from the factory either...
So would you recommend the MT82-D4 over the 10R80 for the S650? I hear the current 10R80s might have had the issues fixed, but I see that on FordTechMakuloko that they are still seeing the internal drum issues. I spoke to someone that works at GM and they said they fixed all of the 10L80/10L90...
