So coming from a 2015 GT mustang this generation Mustang is way more of a pain in the ass to change the oil then previous years for one reason. That damn engine bottom cover with no access panel. Had to take off like 15 plus screws just to remove that dang thing. Besides that pretty straightforward. I have to say I did the oil at 1400 mi engine oil looked great almost as if it was brand new. It was a bit alarming though that I probably only got eight and a half quarts of oil out of it. Pretty sure the manual calls for 10 quarts.

Snaped a few shots along the way enjoy

Only 8.5 Qts drained. Did that include the oil in the filter?

Any reason why the bottom cover can't be left off? My 2007 Gt didn't have one making the oil and filter change a cinch.

I reckon there was some oil in the oil cooler if you have a DH or a GT with a PP. not too sure how to drain the oil from the oil cooler though.

I assume it could, it does help protect some components from flying debris and it is also supposed to act similarly to a belly pan or undertray for aero, but without better aerodynamics, splitter, diffuser, etc. it probably falls short there.

Once you got the cover off, was everything pretty accessible, i.e. oil filter and drain plug? Prefer to do my own oil & filter changes, but if it's too much of a PITA I'll let dealer do it.

Dip stick showed 1qt low when I got home first 5 miles. I added 1/2 qt. Checked at 200 miles all was good.

Did you check the oil level as soon as you bought it? Likely low from the factory.

The lower cover help directs the airflow around the engine for better cooling. I like taking the cover off to see if there be any leaks or issues.

Yes very accessible. Easy oil change except for the cover
