They don't really talk much about the Dark Horse as it is driven by the third driver but the video shows clearly why the Mustang and all versions above the GT desperately NEED AWD. If it would be implemented similar to the charger or any BMW M car one could get the best out of two worlds.

Anyhow, quick summary:
AWD crushes everything
All cars in RWD the Mustang wins
Rolling race goes to the Mustang as well but with fresh tires I would assume the Hellcat would win this one

These tests were conducted under real world conditions in winter. No bullshit like prepped surfaces or anything. Driver ‘skills’ can be neglected as the results were fairly obvious. Hellcat with 700 hp but tires are almost gone, Charger with 550hp but some 800is pounds heavier than the Mustang. Mustang by far the most beautiful out of the trio and winning 2 out of 3 races ;)

Forgot to mention the Mustang DH makes only 500 hp.

Those Dodges look nasty and childesh in my opinion, DH is waaaaay better looking, and it showed that reasonable power is better than 700-800 hp.

As a road muscle car, 500 hp feels like the max you would practically enjoy without constantly losing tyres.

And the idea of AWD mustang feels weird and heavy on the drive train, i don't think it'll happen anytime soon.

Winner = Mustang, the last real muscle car out of the other freaks. I hope they never ruin it for emissions or a marginally faster 0-60.

Curious how the Dark Horse would have performed with just a set of drag radials and an IRS kit to imorove traction at launch. With those and a whipple to close the torque gap it would probably still cost less than the Hellcat.

Also curious how a ZL1 would have performed.

The AWD Dodge still sounds puny in comparison to the V8's. Nothing with only 6 cylinders is a true muscle car.

Comparing any of them to a C8 is apples vs. oranges since the C8 is (trying to be) in a different league with the German and Italian cars.

An AWD mustang would be awesome.
Agreed, especially if they can find a way to do it without making it insanely heavy or expensive. My daily is a maverick hybrid. If Ford can make a 4 door hybrid truck made out of steel weigh only about 3700 lbs, they can make a mustang hybrid light if they really want to. Maybe with a next gen optimized with a new platform or something.

We all know the 5.0 pulls like a mofo at higher RPMs but isn't quite as peppy down low. An AWD mustang hybrid with the combo of instant electric torque, the 5.0, and 10 speed would be a freaking monster. Plus it would be more usable year round, and get better fuel economy for people using it to commute.

It's just wins across the board. As long as they prevent the engine from sounded muffled like some hybrids, and minimized the understeer that you get with some AWD cars, I'd love it.

I think the comparison further proves the GT’s uniqueness as the last Pony car standing. Throttle House’s other video on the gas Charger shows it better.

An AWD version that competes with this Charger would be cool. It’s probably more Ecoboost RTR than GT based. But at that point you are likely cross shopped against AWD German sports sedans. It’s a tough segment to sell enough to be profitable.

Personally, I would not be a customer. I bought my Mustang because of exactly what it is. I already own a mild hybrid turbo AWD BMW that is fast(er), but I don’t ache to cruise in it like my manual 5.0.

Curious to see the remaining range after. Getting away don’t do much good if you’re stuck where you went.

It does not look all that difficult for a large manufacturer or a good fabrication and mechanic fort rod shop with good fabrication and mechanic skills.

And it runs 10s in the quarter mile.

Mustang is heavy enough! New Dodge looks ghetto. Italians (Dodge) make fast cars...while they last.

Dodge/Jeep/Ram seem to struggle with styling, especially retro styling. The wrangler, and the previous gen challenger are hideous imo. This new charger is probably the best looking dodge muscle car I've seen, but still not great from some angles.

Basically the only truly great looking car dodge has made imo is the viper, the most modern one in particular.

Try a sensor in the pan and cancel the echo? As in knock-sensors for 2 and 6.

Racing these cars at those temps is just stupid

Buts it's funny how fast the Hellcat regains the ground and blows by the other two in the first race
