Curious how the Dark Horse would have performed with just a set of drag radials and an IRS kit to imorove traction at launch. With those and a whipple to close the torque gap it would probably still cost less than the Hellcat.
Edmunds Whippled Dark Horse probably wouldn't best the Hellcat.

While we're modifying cars can we spend $1300 to tune the Hellcat? Or $3000 for a tune pulley etc setup?

Great idea, let's compare an apple with an orange and a chilli.
Why didn't they throw a truck in the mix too?
The DH makes excellent use of it's 500hp, and looks a million bucks better.
I'm not biased at all.

That six pack shows a nice gain from a tune as well. Looks like it runs out of turbo though.

Damn that's a meaty powerband. Shift right around 5,700rpm and stay on that mountain of Hp/Tq.

It definitely would best a stock hellcat, pretty handily in fact. The faster Challenger Black Ghost with 807 hp ran slower than a stock Dark Horse in their U-Drags. Their Whippled Dark Horse ran a much faster time in the quarter mile as well as the overall time. The Challenger trapped at 135 mph, while the whipped Dark Horse trapped at 138 hp. But yeah a tuned Hellcat would be pretty deadly on a roll

They are not doing this on a prepared surface. If you watch this video, the old Challenger just spins while the other cars leave it behind. It is charging up hard toward the end but is not able to catch up before the finish line.

Hellcat going 12.4 in the 1/4? Come on.
This is not at a drag strip with a sticky launch pad that sticks to your shoes if you walk on it.

They just go out in whatever conditions, mark out a quarter mile, and go.

Did you see where the Whippled Dark Horse quarter mile was performed? It's on video and posted here. I mean, there is a reason adding a supercharger only reduced the stock quarter mile by half a second.

It is what it is. A quarter mile recorded under certain conditions at a certain time.

Every one of these videos brings out complaints about how they launched, what mode they used, and so on.

And as I pointed out, none of them are on a drag strip.

While that's true, they aren't the same test on the same day, and how we got from a Trottle House roll race video to a U drag I'm not sure.

The Hellcat was also on all-seasons. So let's at least admit it was never going to get traction. Meanwhile the dark horse is on what tires again?

My Hellcat only has the lowly 707 version....black key (500hp) on street tires 12.2; red key (707hp) on all season radials 11.2X; red key with drag radials (which I use on the street) 10.8X.....I love my 5.0 that I daily, and I realize every "test" has its detractors, but........

I am not sure we are arguing or even disagree, lol.

I actually like the new Six Pack a lot, but that weight is super disappointing. The 500 hp Dark Horse is able to pull away from the 550 hp Six Pack because of that 800 lb difference. A BMW M3 with AWD is in the 3800-4000 lb range, and an AWD F90 M5 with a twin turbo V8 is in the 4,400 range. I get why the Dodge is 4,800, it’s the compromise of needing to be both a EV and a ICE car, but damn. Good looking car with a capable engine, but the chassis holds it back.
