Hey all,

I'm wondering if I need to change my oil at 500mi or at 1,000mi?

Or, is break in oil not a thing anymore?

Thanks

I feel 1000 mi / 1600 km is a good time for the initial oil change, yes.

Break-in oil is not required for these engines. Follow the recommended weights in the owners manual.

There are a lot of great brands available. Select an oil that meets or exceeds Ford's recommendations.

Enclosed are some references I posted previously.

3000 for my new GT. Oil was still clean looking. 10 quarts Mobil 1 - a lot of oil for a car motor.

I did mine at 1,200 miles and switched to full synthetic.

Same, changed to full synthetic at 1000 miles and will be changing it again at 10,000 miles or whenever the oil life monitor approaches 0%.

There's no break-in oil anymore. Changed mine at 2,200 miles only because it was Spring after I put it away for Winter.

Mine was changed at a bit over 500 miles, but primarily as part of my Whipple install on my '25 DH. Now it's on 5W-50 Mobil 1.

What I do is beat the absolute dog shit out of the car from 0-1000 then change the oil and then beat the dogshit out of it again until 3k. Then beat the dogshit out of it for 2k-3k intervals until I have had my fill of beating the dogshit out of it.

If I remember right, the oil filter from assembly was pretty small compared to what Ford says to use so I'd change it sooner than later.
