I have been going thru all of the post in this post (hum this sounds weird lol) And here is what I can get out of it.

1: Starter life
2: Motor life
3: Emissions
4: Cost of gas
5: A lot of stat some with figures some only hearsay

Here are my conclusion:
A lot of you guy when you bought this car didn't give a rat ass of using the S/S feature. You are giving tons of reason not to use it. Bottom line is; You don't care about the cost of gas and the CO2 emissions. You bought this car so you can impress the guy next to you on a stop/light sign or your neighbor or you simply love the sound it makes when you rev the engine. And it's your choice and I respect that.

Just be honest about it and tell it the way it is. YOU want TO MAKE NOISE whenever you can.

As for all the others that say it will break you car sooner, whatever part you mean, again be honest. If you can afford a 100k car (CAD money) you surely can afford replacing a starter a bit earlier than expected. You are buying 4k mags, carbon fiber upgrade, lower your suspension etc... etc.., but will complain about, BOU HOU HOU My starter broke and it only had 100k on it. Come on are you joking?????? Furthermore you will probably not keep the car that long, or am I wrong?

So for all of you who just want to show off just say so and for the rest who cares about the environment, saving a few bucks etc. also just say so.

I use it period and I use it for saving on gas money and trying to do my part on CO2 emissions. Not because I can't afford the difference in my gas money but why should I pay more if I can save a few bucks.

BTW I RESPECT all of you guys whatever your choice is. I just don't like the reason you are giving for not using it. Just be honest.

And for all of you who are not sure about using it or not. Just use it since it's not the show off part that you care about and in the long run it will be cheaper and the planet will love you for it.

“U.S. dollars over the vehicle useful life. For all engine sizes, the worst possible outcome (negative
savings/cost increase) occurs in the lower right corner of the plots. This represents many, short
duration, engine-off events per day.”

I like how you make all these assumptions as to why people hate the ASS system. You are basically saying we are ignorant and hate the environment and then in the next breath you say you respect our choices. No you don't. You hate our choices then seek to make us out to be petty children with yourself as the adult citing all your own reasons why we should save the planet and use the ASS system. You are right about one thing. We don't care that it saves 4 gallons of gas over 100K miles.

I wouldn't use the ASS system if I knew for certain that it was completely harmless because I find the unexpected interruption to engine operation extremely irritating. It's irritating to experience in the same way that a blown speaker ruins the music with the unexpected cracks and pops. I had a white noise generator as a sleep aide and it began to crack and pop which instantly disturbs the peace. It was irritating when trying to relax. ASS disturbs the peace and is therefore irritating.

All of us 5.0 owners are clearly more interested in the joy of driving than pinching pennies. To me, there is no better sound than a V8. It is magic. 4, 6, 10, 12, none sound better than a proper v8. It doesn't even have to be loud to be enjoyable to me. The quiet mode sounds amazing. I would have not bought the car if the v8 was not available. It's part of the driving experience that I wanted.

You need to go to some other forum to preach your save the planet sermon. You would have better luck trying to teach wolves to go vegetarian than talk about saving a couple dollars in fuel on cars that are most enjoyable when they are getting 5MPG.

I see you live in Canada. No wonder you are concerned with the cost of fuel. Not us to the south. The best is yet to come for US. Sorry about your luck.

Sorry Allan, I tried being honest about it and it didn’t work. Go back and look at my posts. I readily admitted I didn’t care but nobody cared even remotely that I didn’t.

So even being honest about one’s feelings doesn’t slow down the pontificating and bleating. The moralizing continues unabated. Always will I suspect. In a sense it’s really little more than having a thinly veiled political argument without actually mentioning politics.

If 'doing your own thinking' means believing Breitbart then you are in deep trouble
Anyone who discounts something based solely on who is reporting it is not worth giving a single ounce of consideration to.

Here is a thought. It appears that all Eco-Boosts have ASS (the abbreviation says it all!), but not all GTs have it. Since all of this is related to CAFE standards, us Eco-Boost drivers are allowing some of you guys to drive around in GTs without ASS! Best give us a bit of recognition as it were!

Not all GT’s made before December of 2023 had ASS because of a shortage of necessary parts, these were referred to “job 1 mustangs”. All job 2’s, anything built after December, have ASS along with other things job 1’s were lacking.

Well, in 30 years, those who have the early versions without stop/start looking to sell these as "classics" can claim it as an "enhancement". Maybe I should hold onto mine...

On the contrary. The source of information is critical in determining the validity.

Articles in the MSM that do not quote a reputable source are valueless opinion. If I express an opinion without evidence or data then it is also valueless, hence why I regularly quote the source of information.

Reputable sources are peer reviewed scientific journals where the evidence is analysed statistically using proven methods and all sources and conflicts recorded.

Bridges work because we can prove the engineering structure before we build it based on evidence and scientific theory, not because Jeff next door said it would be OK.

You go to a dentist to get dental work, you go to a vet to treat your dog, you go to a physicist to understand atoms. Jeff next door cannot help you with these things because he simply doesn't understand the subject well enough (or often understand what he doesn't understand) I don't understand supersonic airflow, but some people do - I know who to explain Concorde to me and it isn't Jeff!

You do realize your ‘supporting’ document (the pdf 115925.pdf) indicates the more stop start is used the worse it gets. A limit of 10 per day for parity and anything more is detrimental. Although as any can conclude without a required study, the longer it’s off the less it uses. A maximum of 10 stop start events per day for a minimum of 3 minutes per engine off cycle.

Are you claiming that the falsely predicted 54 environmental disasters were never predicted and that Breitbart/Nolte just made them all up out of thin air to support the claim that these so called experts are dishonest and / or incompetent? If that is you your claim (and it must be if you are rejecting how wrong there experts always seem to be) then that means Breitbart has some sort of deity-level reality editing ability because I personally remember a lot of these claims. It's hard to forget when they are all yelling in unison that the world is going to end over and over.

I don know about you but it takes me 1-3 lies before I reject the narritive. With Covid I saw the lies as they were telling them. The veil had been lifted for me. It's OK to be wrong. I was wrong a lot before I finally realized that almost everything the elites do is for power/ control and money. if you just look at what they say and try to work out how the narrative can be used for those 2/3 things you will be right about 95% of the time. If you believe the MSM narrative (and yes BBC lies like the rest of them) then you will be wrong much more than you will be right.

For people who will complain that these things are becoming political I say yes. It's impossible to mention emissions without politics. It just is. I am all for making things more efficient and clean. I draw the line at bad mechanical designs and poor engineering decisions for the sake of 1 MPG. Especially while the climate hypocrites fly everywhere in their private jets and live in their 10000ft^2 home while they seize more wealth and control over our lives while their carbon footprint is 10-1000X larger than mine.

As far as bad mechanical designs I point to the loathsome CVTs they are using in everything to pinch another .5MPG because the EPA is making them. Those manual transmissions people love so much are soon to be outlawed because of the puff of less clean exhaust during the moment the throttle plate closes during every shift. How many of you would own a mustang if it had a CVT? It would become a 300hp capped 2 door Camry at that point. May as well just make it FWD.

Who wants to talk about ethanol in fuel and how it takes 30% more energy to produce than it contains?

I don't love V8 at idle because I think I can show off.
I just love that rumble.
Reminds me that there is a powerful predator under the hood one should be selective on when to unleash.
Which actually leads to enjoying rumbling cruising more than engaging in races at every traffic light.
Like "I could if I wanted to" (well, sometimes I might want to).

I don't even like to rev up when in neutral. V8 character to me sounds best when cruising at low RPM and/or under load during acceleration.

When standing at a railroad crossing where I know it will take very long, then I turn the engine off manually though as long as I don't need A/C.

So @Gregs24 not everyone dismisses Auto Start/Stop just to impress others or to treat unsecureness.
Don't doubt the environmental benefits of that functionality, but who knows, maybe I just bought this car instead of a V12 Lambo because even with turned off ASS I'm doing the environment more good with the Stang GT?
So please be thankful for me being that responsible!
