Amber DRL via Forscan (and FDRS) - YES!

DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING YOU SCREW UP DURING THIS PROCESS IF YOU DECIDE TO TRY IT. This is confirmed working on 2 vehicles as of today. Huge thanks to @roket - without his help this would not have happened. FDRS and Forscan in required to make this work. There are plenty of threads that will get you going with those programs so just do a search if you’re not familiar with them. You will also need to obtain a GTD vin number. I will not publicly share someone’s vin.

Procedure:

Leave USB unplugged from PC

Open FDRS

Manually enter GTD vin

In toolbox, download LDCMB and LDCMA

Plug in J2534 cable to PC and car

Run LDCMB (PMI)

Run LDCMA (PMI)

Is original module installed- yes

Close session

Forscan LDCMA 6F6–05–06 set to 0910

LDCMB 6F7-05-06 set to 0911

Full transparency - I am having an issue where my trunk will no longer open with the dash or bumper buttons, but it now opens with one press of the unlock button on the key fob and 2 presses on the unlock button on the driver door. I have no idea when this started happening but I have spent hours trying to fix it with no success at this point. It could’ve happened during previous trial and error testing or could’ve happened during the above procedure. The other car that has the working DRL does not have any issues.

Is the Mongoose cable confirmed working for the FDRS portion of this mod, and is that the most affordable cable option available for this? I'm assuming the basic OBDLink ForScan cable doesn't cut it with FDRS.

Do they need to be real ones? You could make some that aren't assigned to a real car using the information available on the NHTSA database.

I will admit something about that feels illegal, so I'm compelling myself to say that those should not ever be used in any official capacity.

Yes the Mongoose is what I used. That cable also works for Forscan if you don’t have OBDLink.

You need FDRS. The change in Forscan has no effect on the color.
