25C43 Water Intrusion Recall

You'd have to remove the right kick panel and do the visible inspection as shown above. If its corroded, there are no BCMS, and the recall info is vague on availability. Based on past experience with Ford, I'd say there are no BCM's available, new car production gets first dibs.

And thanks to Abe for posting it, I sure could not figure it out!

i still wonder why not test, confirm, repair (if needed), and verify.

I wonder if we could stuff some of those panty shields up there that turn blue when they get wet? You know, like on TV commercials...

If they stay dry, no need to go through all of this. That bit about prying up the windshield kinda bothers me.

I was thinking the same..maybe they know it leaks/will leak.

Maybe they are afraid testing cars that might fail will result in getting the BCM wet which they can't replace at this time.

I just can't picture my dealer doing a clean job of this.

Stupid me, thinking I'd get a new car and not have any issues to deal with...

Just the test is getting my car wetter than it will ever get....lol

The first 2 steps look to be about 2 hours. AS to the visibility, I won't know til we do a few and I can go look at one. Probably Monday, several salespeople have interested buyers and the were calling them yesterday!
I will post the entire procedure on Monday when I get back to work.

Did you get to do any today? How likely are there to be corrosion and water leak?

i got the recall done today, 100% pass. most of the time was waiting 2 hours for the silicone to cure enough to put the wiper cowl back on. the likely reason why the recall came out early and is a bunch of sealing off the seams is because Ford couldn't quite figure out where water was coming in, or that it was coming in from everywhere
