I ordered a car, never got a VIN, cancelled the deal and bought a car that was 99% of what I wanted from a dealer that was close by.
Using my Mustang Club of America X Plan pricing benefit the car was something like $55.6K
GT Ragtop, 401A, 10 speed, spare tire, Rapid Red. The MSRP was 58.5K so I saved $3K
I could have had a 2013 Corvette Z06 with 3500 miles on it for $37K
Now I sold my 94 Vette and my 07 GT Premium Ragtop to fund the new car purchase, and I was not really looking for another Vette, but... there are a lot of C6 and C7 Vettes out there with low miles for reasonable money, and if it going to be a weekend driver cruise night car that kind of a car might be a better choice than a 2025 Mustang if you are concerned about money. The Vette has already taken most of its depreciation hit, the Mustang is going to drop 40% of its value in the next 5 years.
let's be realistic here, comparing a Vette with a Mustang is not apples and oranges as they are both 2 seat sports cars... you are not putting an adult in the back seat of a Mustang and have them be comfortable
But I'll tell you the truth, paying the extra $4k+ for the ragtop was a hard decision to make, especially with the black roof. I would have preferred a neutral color for Florida like my 07 had, but Ford in their infinite lack of wisdom did not offer light colored seats or roofs for those of us in the southern states. The only reason I spent the money was I had a pile of cash I got for nothing and the proceeds from the 2 other cars... this was going to be enough to buy the car I wanted and still have money for a Ford Performance Whipple kit and some left over.
$55.5K was an amount I was willing to pay, now at or over $60K for a similar car.... nope they have priced it out of my range.
The recent labor agreement with the UAW is said to have added 1.5 BILLION DOLLARS to their manufacturing costs.
I guess we are seeing the results of that agreement.
