Not sure how you take away HP based on emissions, but then jump back up close to 500.

By developing a Gen 4 Coyote that was designed to meet higher HP targets, whilst also meeting forthcoming stringent emissions targets.

The changes to the '22/'23 Gen 3 Coyote would have been a Band Aid for a couple of years.

That power comes into play every day. Getting around slow cars on a 2-lane, playing ping pong back and forth between lanes to stagger around slow vehicles on a 4-lane. Hwy on-ramp. Nothing to do with top speed. IMO, the mustang is a lot safer than a 200-hp sedan with a fat ass in a moment of need.
Agreed, we try to avoid taking our '09 Kia Rio on the highways whenever possible. Thing shakes and vibrates like crazy. It has maybe around 120 hp is my guess, so acceleration is dependent on which way the wind is blowing, not even joking haha. It's light, about 2,400 lbs, so not bad for a modern car. But everything feels like it's going to fall apart, feels extremely unsafe. By comparison, our explorer, which has close to 300 hp, gives you a great deal of confidence on the highway when trying to pass others, or get up to speed.

It would be great if the GT would have around 500 BHP, also for Europe. That would be a great step-up compared to Gen 6 facelift. I am pretty sure Ford did their work around to keep their CO2 emissions and who knows, maybe a mild hybrid could be a possibility :D

Without reading all the posts here; I'm sure someone else has mentioned this.

I LOVE the wording "Approaching 500hp". Hell, my 2021 approaches 500 hp now. It doesn't hit it, but 460 is closer to 500 than 440.

Ad folks, gotta love 'em!

I would assume it is logically rounded from less than 5 hp - and even then would be underrated, if true to fords conservative HP Ratings. By any rounding standards, 460 or even 480 is nowhere near 500

when I was in elementary school anything over 5 rounds up. so 450HP rounds up to 500. And anyway the precision mathematical term in question is "approach". Which I believe is used in airplanes and cruise liners. So a bit of wide latitude is expected.

And anyway nobody cares. nobody is going to turn the S650 down because it "only has" 460, or 480 or whatever stupid number it has.

I think you will find the Last Digit is Rounded, not the second last.

500 bhp would be grear. 450 is also more than enough. The problem is the weight, but I am sure the S650 won't be lighter. Other car manufacturers with 450 bhp have better performance numbers. But anyway I don't want to compare apple with oranges.

I'm not a mathematician, nor do I pretend to be one on TV.

I will pass the S650 cause I'm not a fan of the aesthetic. It far less aggressive than I would expect. Hopefully, it isn't the swansong for the Mustang V8 cause that would make me sad. I'll stick with my S550.

this is 100 percent correct as I’ve said in the past the coyote was originally slated for a 10 year production run based on then current “2010” emission targets. The reality is the coyote will be on its last legs for this generation. I’d love to see ford just go all out and make it the best V8 they could make. But we could definitely see a 525hp 8000rpm coyote that isn’t 25k to produce. Right now i think the move for ford is going to be use the bullitt/mach 1 engine and update it for the 7th gen car ala what they did in 2010

just my two cents

The Gen 4 Coyote has been in development since at least 2020, so you are probably right about the 2024 having the Gen 4. This may've been responsible for the the 1 year delay of the S650 too.
