The tuning and price are the biggest reasons I’m seeing. Interest rates and the economy have a big part to play as well. I also think for many who had S550s the car wasn’t that much of a difference for them other than looks.

I just saw an article that said that the Mach-E is outselling the Mustang! Nobody wants cars anymore...
We went over it on another thread but the Mach E was heavily incentivized on top of dealers taking money off. Pretty much Ford is struggling on both fronts but they’re wording it like the Mach E is a wild success over the s650.

I looked up 23 sales numbers and the coupe outsold the Mach E by 8,000ish cars. So the Mustang is just priced too high in a crazy economy.

It's the huge price increase, the screens, the strange touch buttons instead of the airplane switches, the hundreds of S550 re-used interior parts, the downgrade of the ambient light (no cupholder lights), the lack of tuning and also our daily life got more expensive.

This car can't be considered a new model, but a refresh with all those re-used parts.

And still I love it because I never owned the S550.

I personally think tuning as little impact as most people buying a brand new mustang do not tune it.

I think its just a victim of the times we live in. Less and less people want 2 door cars and mustang has gotten very expensive.

As already mentioned, its a few factors in my opinion:

- Mustang is no longer a 'best bang for your buck' car. It outpriced itself
- Minimal changes from the s550 to s560 at first glance
-Weird style choices to some (I still can't get hooked on the new look), including the poorly designed screens that noone wanted
-Loss of faith in the brand, Ford recall numbers are some of the worst in the industry

Quite a few people do. They would have sold a couple thousand more if you could tune it

I have been a Mustang owner for the past 31 years, and consider myself a Ford enthusiast. I talk to a few Mustang friends throughout the year who are decades long enthusiasts like I am and overall I see people who don’t like
-prices
-the “all new” S650 REFRESH
-auto start/stop
-lack of tuning
-screens
-prices
-mt82
-mt82 gear ratios

it seems to me that many enthusiasts are really digging the S550 these days,

BMW said M2/M3 sales are up...

So I was just looking.....

In 1992

BMW M3 MSRP was 57K (1998 M3 was 35K)
93 Cobra MSRP was 21K

Today an M2 starts at 63K and M4 at 79K

Today I was getting the oil changed at the Ford dealer and they had 2 fully loaded Dark Horses with an MSRP of over 95K (carbon wheels and painted stripes) - even a fully loaded GT is now like 65K (I think it was 95K....I know it started with a 9 for sure)

I think before people used to buy Mustangs because they were cheap fun.......but now there is a section of the population that for the same money is going to buy a BMW every time over a Mustang......t

The Mustang used to be a stepping stone to the high end cars.....now in some cases it is more expensive.....I think they need to get back to their roots -

I dont care what options it has- over 90K MSPR on a Dark Horse is insanity to me.......no Coyote based Mustang should cost over 75K

Then where did those couple thousand of people go? Every new car I would buy is locked up. Used cars?

I think the reason those M cars are up in sales is because they are the best product to buy in that demographic of the car market. And BMW cannot meet demand. Every M3 allocation that comes up has a buyer. My parents are waiting on a M4 allocation.

Ford just might not have that compelling of a product with the new mustang. I even question myself if I want one.

What article didn’t tell you if you took out the Government and fleet sales of the Mache it would have shown about 10 retail sales.

In some cases, it's the economy that has everything upside down. Sadly, wages haven't kept up with prices. The new Mustang is just overpriced and now add $5K going from 2024-2025. Many younger folks have no interest in a muscle car. I see more young guys driving F-150's, RAM's, Silverado's, and Toyotas. My GT Premium was a bit over $56K. You can buy a really nice pickup for $56K that has more resale value. Young people can haul a family around in a quad-cab and the guy still has his toy.
The new Mustang has a terrible color selection. The X-Box dash is a bit overboard. Most folks look at that dash and wonder what the replacement cost will be when the warranty runs out.
I'm a Baby Boomer. With the equity I had in my Shelby, I was able to buy my GT at a decent price. When a young person sees a $1000 per month payment, that takes the fun out of ownership. If I outlive the car, I will sell or trade it when the warranty runs out. While I have it, I will enjoy it. I grew up in the Happy Days of cars. BTW...take a look at most new car dealers. They have cars stacked to the ceiling. I don't think Mustang is the only one.

No NA based Coyote Mustang should cost over 60k period.
