Hey, is it still true with latest FORscan release? @rugedraw @roadpilot do you need bcm update?
I would venture a strong guess that a new version of FORScan doesn't change the fact that the car needs a specific BCM update requirement for this to work.

Your options are buy it, borrow it, or wait for the OTAs.

When I spend $78K on a vehicle that costs me $100 to fill the tank on, spending $575 for the Mongoose Plus is nothing.

the BCM update is not done via OTA. it requires using FDRS to update it

Short of doing it oneself, what is the reason that will encourage a dealer to perform the ‘elective’ (?) bcm update?

ask them to do so. if there is an update for your BCM, they will update it. they will probably charge 1hr labor to check

I am going off of memory here which is not my best asset, but I could have sworn someone without the BCM update tried it and it worked. There is no harm in trying to enable it. If it doesn't work, just change back to where you were before.

It's great. I just ... walk away and let it lock itself.

When I park @ work, I back into the spot right by the front doors (glass). As I walk away, I look @ the glass front doors as I'm walking and can see the taillights flash to let me know WAL locked the doors (I do NOT have the audible alert on).
I also don't have the audible alert on. Don't like the honking in general and especially not when I park in my garage at home. I only enabled it yesterday so I will see how it goes.

Can I use FRDS to tweak settings like WAL etc without having to use FORScan? I know FRDS has $50 2 day license fee, does FORscan also need license?

FDRS will update the module, but it does not always add the config for new features. So maybe someone here who has updated it with FDRS can chime in and say what they experienced, but I am pretty sure you still need FORScan. FDRS is not able to change the config to something other than whatever Ford intended for the vehicle. When @roadpilot updated his car with FDRS, he still had to enable it with FORScan.

Either way, a 12-month FORScan license is $12 and a 2-month license is free, so the cost is nominal.

With FORScan you have a 2-month trial period.

You cannot currently purchase a license, and it's all there on their website.

Just guessing, but them getting out of Ukraine would resolve this.

Yea this was me. I don't have feedback enabled just WAL and it works like a charm. Unless the dealership secretly updated my BCM for me (which I HIGHLY doubt because I've only brought it in for the clutch line recall and 2 oil changes)

i want to sanity check something here. i enabled "frost telltale" on my Mustang with FORScan, and this morning on the way to autocross i finally saw it in action. but im not sure if what i did actually enabled it or not. to those in colder climates, can you comment on whether or not you have seen this icon when its below 40F/4C?

I can confirm that frost telltale works after enabling it. It’s a nice little feature, don’t know why it’s disabled by default. It comes on below 40°F, there’s no audible alarm, just this unobtrusive yellow symbol. I think it’s great!
