The factory MagneRide system in the S650 Mustang is already incredibly capable. But what happens when you get access to the calibration behind it?

In this video, we take my 2024 Mustang Dark Horse Handling Package to Carolina Motorsports Park to test the all new DSC Sport MagneRide Controller for the 2024+ S650 Mustang and see how much more performance can be extracted from the factory electronically controlled dampers.

DSC Sport gives enthusiasts significantly more control over how the dampers respond to vehicle inputs, allowing the suspension calibration to be optimized around driving style, track use, tire choice and future suspension modifications.

For someone like me who used to throw suspension parts at cars simply because they were available, that's probably one of the biggest takeaways from this project. The Dark Horse Handling Package is already an extremely capable package from Ford. Before replacing springs, bars and dampers, there's a surprising amount of performance and confidence available simply by better utilizing the hardware that's already on the car.

And if you do modify the suspension later? This controller covers that, too.

Lowering springs, different spring rates, sway bars, tire packages and other changes alter what the chassis needs from the dampers. Rather than being locked into the factory calibration, DSC gives you the ability to continue optimizing the system around the car as it evolves.

We also dive into the development behind the controller with DSC Sport / TPC Racing, including how lessons learned through professional motorsports and their Mustang Cup competition program are helping shape the calibration for the S650 platform.

The goal wasn't to fix a bad suspension. It was to take an already fantastic one and turn the volume up to 11.

This looks to be able to adjust tons of parameters. I'd definitely geek out with this. I wonder if this is available yet for s650 because the website only shows s550.

@D/\rK•650 Nice! DSC controllers were/are quite popular/coveted amongst the Focus RS (which I owned prior to my GT) crowd.

If this opens up magneride settings, could it be possible to use FORScan now to allow magneride settings to be selectable independently from drive mode? Or would you need to replace the magneride module?

Thinking for choice in the custom drive modes, it would be nice to have some basic customisation without getting bogged down in technical detail.

This is a good question. My guess would be no because with this your replacing the physical module for the magneride. I Hope we can though.

Granular configuration of the drive modes would require program modifications in other modules... this isn't gonna do that... but brilliant to see that magnaride can now be tuned!

Did anyone else notice the foglight coming on when he braked? The foglight in the UK is between the white reversing lights at the bottom of the diffuser at the back.

This would be a really good upgrade if there is a Mustang track fanatic who figures out a business programming these. It would have to be somebody who runs at the track and does a lot of testing for track performance as well as street compliance.

Chevy Corvette has had a guy like that, at least last time I checked on the C7, but he was a former Chevrolet engineer.

LOL. I've already signed up for notification when it's available. However, I am most likely going to take the leap to coilovers, which would make this unnecessary. We'll see.
