Can the S650 10R80 be tuned to skip more gears?

I’ve tested this today, double press (as quickly as I can possibly do it) both up and down through the gears (whilst not in manual mode) and it doesn’t skip going either way. Because the gear change is so smooth you might be missing it but it’s definitely there in the exhaust note.

It works for me. Doing it too quickly is probably the issue.

For me the auto works perfect in all situations apart from light and slow acceleration from stop, meaning
1-3 gears. If i go a bit faster with the gas it’s alright. If I wanna go slowly it goes always 1-3 and the 3 is kind of slipping until it gets to the appropriate speed and than settles. It does it from new, I think intended, just dont understand why at very low acceleration does it use slipping 3 instead of 2nd gear, which would be more appropriate in such a situation. Then I have two choices. Speed up faster to stop the slipping or downshift manually to 2. Only annoying thing for me with the 3rd gear and slow acceleration….

You have to give the right amount of input. There is a whole thread on it. Once you find the sweet spot, it works pretty well. I cant offer an explanation on why yours isn't working other than its how your doing it.

For what its worth, I have Continous Gear Display enabled and my car skips gears all the time under light throttle input/driving. I would have never known without that display. I suspect this isnt a malfunction, but a lack of understanding of what the car is actually doing and how the transmission is supposed to work.

Is it possible to tune the 10R80 in a 2024 Mustang GT to use fewer gears during normal driving?


I feel like the transmission shifts way too often because of the 10 gears. I’d like it to skip more gears during light/normal throttle, for example something like 1st → 3rd → 5th → 7th → 9th/10th, instead of going through almost every gear.


Under heavier throttle or WOT, I’d still want it to use all 10 gears normally.
